Tournament Champions
The Amateur Player Tour-Birmingham Chapter visited Riverchase Country Club on March 23rd, 2024, with a sold-out field and over $3800 in total prizes. The weather was warmer, but the wind made scoring conditions difficult.
In Division 1, Jeremy Willingham stayed steady all round long with only two bogeys on the card. Jeremy knocked in close on the 6th hole to card his lone birdie of the day. Jeremy posted a +1 (73), to take the victory by five shots over Jay Hayes. Jeremy was also able to capture the Open Net victory to push his total winnings to $390 for the event.
Karl Jung played a steady front nine with one birdie and one bogey to make the turn at even par. Taking a two-shot lead to the final nine, Karl knew the field was chasing. Karl played the next four holes in four over but was able to right ship and finished the final five holes in even par to post a +4 (76). Matthew Scott standing on the 18th tee knew he needed par to force a playoff, but a bogey ensued to give Karl the victory in Division 2. Karl was awarded the trophy and $350 Visa Gift Card.
Division 3 was another tight battle all day long at the top of the leaderboard. Larry Kirkpatrick held the lead over Phil Lambert with three holes to go. Larry was award the trophy and the $250 Visa Gift Card.
In Division 4, eighteen holes were not enough to crown our champion. After posting scores of +17 (89), there was a three-way sudden death playoff. Rodney Oden, Chris Crawford, and Mike Penn all went into the first playoff hole. Rodney Oden from the Tennessee East Chapter was able to secure the victory on the first playoff hole. Rodney was awarded the trophy and the $210 Visa Gift Card.
In Division 5, the windy conditions kept the leaderboard close all round long. At one point, there were four different players that had the lead or a share of the lead. Bobby Arrighi was able to outlast the rest of the field to take a one-shot victory. Bobby was awarded the trophy and the $190 Visa Gift Card.
