The beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry was on full display on Saturday as competitors on the Charleston Amateur Players Tour were treated to a round at the Legends Course in Parris Island, SC.

The par-72 championship layout offers golfers a one-of-a-kind experience while on the course. Settled along the coast, The Legends Golf Course features winding salt marshes and deep-water creeks throughout the property.

The Charleston Amateur Players Tour travels the Lowcountry of South Carolina and portions of Georgia, offering golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in ten different divisions. The tournaments also included cash and VISA gift card payouts, and an optional skins game as well.

Designed by the players, for the players, the Charleston Amateur Players Tour welcomes new members to enjoy the competition, and benefits of membership. By being a member of the tour, players have the first opportunity to register for tournaments and receive various discounts, including some with retailers in the golf industry.

Here’s a breakdown of the results from Saturday’s tournament:

Division 1 – Brent Densmore positioned himself nicely with two front nine birdies en route to shooting 77 and winning Division 1 on Saturday. Densmore cleared runner-up Michael Huh by just one shot.

Huh made a late charge, paring five of his last six holes on the back nine. Huh started his day in style with a birdie on the par-four opening hole. Tyler Drewitz finished third in the division after posting a round of 79. Drewitz got off to a steady start with pars on his first four holes.

Division 2 – Bert Boyd held off a solid group of challengers in Division 2 on Saturday as his round of 75 earned him the top honors. Boyd shot even par on the front nine, making birdie on No. 4 to reach one under par on his round in the early goings.

Michael Lingenfelter finished runner-up, just one shot back with a round of 76. Lingenfelter settled in on the back nine, making eight pars to close the round on the inward stretch.

Kevin Futrell and Mike Hubert tied for third place with rounds of 77. Futrell shot just one over par on the front nine, which included a birdie on the par-four opening hole. Hubert’s highlight of the round came on the par-five 11th hole when he made eagle.

Same Lewis rounded out the top-five as he carded a score of 79 that featured a birdie on the par-five 11th hole.

Senior Division 2 – While Michael Lingenfelter’s round of 76 came up just short of victory in Division 2, his round was good enough to win Senior Division 2 on Saturday. Lingenfelter’s steady round included 14 pars and just four bogeys on the day.

Kevin Futrell and Mike Hubert finished tied for second place in the division, one shot back with rounds of 77. Futrell made a birdie on the front and back nine as Hubert took advantage of the par fives on the course, playing them in two under par with a birdie and an eagle to go along with one bogey.

Division 3 – Eighteen holes of golf was not enough to determine a winner in Division 3 as Chad Eldredge prevailed in a playoff over Misael Moreno after both players carded rounds of 85.

Eldredge found his groove on the back nine, making five straight pars before a few bogeys down the stretch. Moreno shot 41 on the front nine, including five pars to position himself for a run at the top spot on the back nine.

Mike Howell and Jeff Price both shot rounds of 87 to finish inside the top-five. Parker Futrell finished fifth as his round was highlighted by an impressive eagle on the par-five second hole.

Senior Division 3 – There was a lot less stress for Chad Eldredge in Senior Division 3, as his round of 85 cleared the field by two shots to complete the sweep of the weekend. Eldredge used a birdie on the par-four fifth hole to shoot 39 on the back and hold the lead with nine holes remaining.

Jeff Price and Mike Howell tied for second place in the division with rounds of 87, followed by Rick Battaglia in fourth with a score of 89. Rick Johnson rounded out the top-five, carding a round of 96.

Division 4 – Jarrod Frick proved to be the class of the field in Division 4 on Saturday as he carded a round of 84 to take the top honors. Frick got off to a steady start, including a birdie on the par-four fourth hole en route to shooting 40 on the front nine.

James Nemes found his groove on the back nine, making five pars in a row during his round of 85 to finish second. Kip Moore led the division with two bridies as he posted a round of 87 and finished third.

Randy Poplin and Big Al Reynolds rounded out the top-five with rounds of 90 and 92, respectively.

Senior Division 4 – James Nemes steady round of 85 did pay off in Senior Division 4 as he claimed the top prize, defeating second place finisher Kip Moore by two shots.

Moore made a pair of birdies on the back nine par fives to battle his way into second place. Randy Poplin shot 90 to finish third, followed by Big Al Reynolds in fourth place with a score of 92.

Bruce Shively made two birdies during his round to finish tied for fifth with David Alea after both players carded rounds of 93.

Division 5 – A playoff was also needed in Division 5 on Saturday as Mitchell McDannald and Aaron Tardif both shot 100. In the end, it was McDannald who prevailed in the playoff to win the division.

Darrell Cooper shot 105 to finish third, followed by David Wilkinson with a round of 109 in fourth place.
