2025 Southern California Arrowood Golf Course Tournament Results

Tour Stop #15 of the season took us to Arrowood Golf Club in Oceanside, CA for the Woods Invitational.  It was a great day for golf at 75 degrees and close to the ocean breeze on this summer day.  We had a full field and some college golfers home for the summer ready to give it a go in division 1 and 2.  Things are getting tight in the player of the year season points race in most of the divisions and with only a few events left, every putt counts big time.  Let’s get to the action… 

Division 1: Some of the college players made it out to this one including our first ever female division 1 player Triana Fernando, (Kirkland, WA,) along with Iona University golfer Sahir Balyan (Simi Valley, CA).  Also first time player Aden Henry (Huntington Beach, CA) and last tournaments winner Jason Wall (Murrieta, CA).  It was a battle but birdies were being found and especially by Sahir Balyan who had a few on the front nine, 2 on the par 3’s which also gave him those CTP winnings.  Jason Wall found a birdie along with some of the other players.  As they came down the back nine, suddenly Sahir hit his stride with a few more birdies and bogey on 17 for an incredible round of 65!  Jason Wall played consistent only making bogey on 17 and 18 to finish in second at 73.  Aden finished 3^rd with a 75.   

Division 2: We were missing points leader Vinny O’Brien (Sun Valley, CA) at this one but we had some new faces in division 2.   Patrick Ryan (Corona, CA) who almost won his first event at River Ridge was trying to break through.  New member Cole Adams (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and guest Kirk Singer (Huntington Beach, CA) were playing well.  Kirk had the lead most of the front nine and was going back and forth with Patrick Ryan.  The challenge of holes 16,17, and 18 would determine this one.  Kirk made bogey on 18 and it gave Patrick a 2-shot lead as he teed off on 18. Even though he put in the bunker off the tee, he managed to chip out and get it on in 2 leaving him with 2 putts’, to shoot an 80 and win by one over Kirk Singer.  Kirk won his membership on tour, and we look forward to more good golf from him.   

Division 3: A nice field of 15 golfers in division 3 showed up to win those points toward end of season awards.  Omar Torres (Oceanside, CA) hadn’t been able to make many events after he won the season opener at Fallbrook, CA.  Returning champion in division 4 but now in division 3 Kyle Wolack (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) was trying to go back-to-back along with a host of other division 3 players including all of the top points leaders.  Kyle Wolack seems to like this course as he was playing strong on the front nine along with Omar Torres.  Blake Moorman (Fallbrook, CA) and Will Kamp (Los Angelas) were making a charge, but Omar was in the clubhouse at +11 and waiting to see if anyone could match him.  Kyle was in the lead but had a tough 17^th hole and had to par 18 to finish second, which he did.  Omar to his surprise was champion once again this season.  

Division 4:  Division four once again our largest field of the day.  It was tightly fought battle down to the last hole!  Dave Davidson (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) was out in an early group and post +17 and was just waiting for his friends to finish.  To his surprise he ended up in second place as four others shot +18 and tied for third place, including Kurt Odegard (Yorba Linda, CA) Saul Armendariz (Granada Hills, CA) Ty Roberts (San Diego, CA) and Bill Myers (Menifee, CA).  However, it was Thomas Meagher (Palm Desert, CA) who shot one of his best rounds of the season and shot 87 taking first place and the $300 Prize pool and the trophy! Great playing everyone!  

Division 5: Royce Jiang (Diamond Bar, CA) Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) Oman Atiq (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) Finished 1, 2, and 3 on this day.  However, Royce put the hammer down and shot an 86!  Really strong for division 5, let’s see if his index keeps him in division 5 for the next event? TBD 😊 

Senior Net Contest 

Thomas Meagher (Palm Desert, CA) with his great round ended up winning senior net as Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) took triple bogey on the 18^th hole to fall 1 shot behind Thomas.  Eddy took second!  

Open Net Contest 

Royce Jiang (Diamond Bar, CA) with his round of 86 gross gave him a -6 net round of 65 and first place in open net.  Sahir Balyan (Simi Valley, CA) was at -3 for second.
