Cedar Hills GC played host to the APT Rocky Mountain Chapter on Saturday, July 10th, 2021. A mountainside course featuring dramatic elevation changes, players basked in the shade provided by the hovering Mount Timpanogos and posted some outstanding scores amongst the fun and sun of the day.
In Division I, Tyler Moore went uncontested but posted a solid 81 as he continues to prepare on the road to Pinehurst.
Peter Fong (78) picked up his 3rd win of the season, using a par on the par-5 18th hole to snag the win by 1 stroke over Patrick Sherwood (79). Both Fong and Sherwood would enter the final hole tied, but Sherwood’s approach shot would find the water and he was unable to save par but finished in 2nd position. Aaron Bascomb (80) finished in third place.
Rocky Mountain Chapter Owner Mark Amann (79) picked up his second win (Longbow GC) of the season, breaking 80 in his most complete round of the season. Joe Salisbury and Shawn Larsen tied for second place, both firing an 84. It would go to the second USGA tiebreaker (last 6), in which Larsen would claim second place prize money besting Salisbury 29:31.
Division 4 was another close battle as Jeremy Conetah (81) held on down the stretch and held off Mark Torbett (82) to take home champion honors by a single shot. David North (86) and Matt Pace (86) finished in a tie for third place.
Not the bridesmaid anymore in Divison 5 as Christopher Miles (91) picks up his first win on the Amateur Players Tour.
