The Virginia Capital had 32 players at Potomac Shores in Dumfries, VA play in blustery, but beautiful conditions. The British Open Conditions made its way to Northern Virginia while those playing for the Claret Jug had unusual calm conditions.
The Day was HIGHLIGHTED by D2 Player Ronnie Carter capturing his first APT Victory but also getting the elusive $2500 Hole N One Prize on the tough #11 at Potomac Shores. The Hole was playing 163 to a very small green and the pin was tucked 5 yards on just over the traps. Visually this is a very intimating hole from the tee box with your only bail out to the right. High numbers here are not uncommon. Ronnie hit a 9 iron to the hole and took one hop and went in. Many of our groups heard the yells. He also cashed 3 Super Skins, 3 Flight Skins and of course a Closest to the Pin while also Capturing the hardware.
Aubrey Evans captured the D1 title with a one over 73 to capture his second APT Victory of the Year. Rick Knepp of the Philadelphia Metro dropped down south to capture his 3rd victory of the season on the APT Tour. Maurice Murphy picked up his first win of the season in Division 4 and also captured the Senior Net Title. Jose Guerra picked up his 5th Victory of the Season in Division 5 in the quest for Pinehurst.
Al Parsons Captured closest to the Pin on #2, Justin Millsap on #4, Ronnie Carter on #11 and Kendall Briscoe on #13.
There was $540 in the skins pots between flight and Super Skins.
Chuck Nimmo and Maurice Murphy captured 3 skins in D4/D5 Pot while James Cournoyer captured 2 and Darnell Edwards and newcomer Phil Clayborne captured one each.
In D1/D2/D3 Skins, Ronnie Carter led the way with 3 Skins while Justin Millsap, Nathan Beck, Terry Lonjin and Ronald Williams captured one each
In Super Skins, Ronnie Carter also captured 3 Skins while Justin Millsap, Terry Lonjin and Ronald Williams captured one each.
