Hidden Cove in Olive Hill, Kentucky hosted 12 players for the West Virginia tours 2nd fall event of the 2022 season. Players from the Cincinnati, Kentucky, and West Virginia tours all took part in the action, along with a few guests on a day that started off with temperatures in the mid 30’s, before heating up near 60 midway through the round.
Division 1: West Virginia tour newcomer Corey Justice took home the win today unopposed in his 1st tour event. Corey went out and shot a +6 on a very long course, making 1 birdie on the day. Corey didn’t make any score higher than bogey on the day to a very solid 1st outing as he begins his quest to capture the West Virginia player of the year championship in 2022.
Division 2: West Virginia’s newest member Tyler Hetzer has gone back to back to start the 2022 season with a an even par round of 72; taking the win over new member Lindy Sullivan by 2 shots. Tyler used 4 birdies on the day to get out to an early lead with a -1 under on the front 9. The more difficult back 9 kept things close, but Tyler held on to go 2 for 2 in the fall series. Chuck Bays came home 3rd.
Division 4: A week after finishing 2nd, Justin Keaton found the winners circle this week. Granted he was unopposed. Justin started with back to back pars, and finished with 3 more to come home at +21. Justin will look to capture another victory on his birthday next Sunday to close out West Virginia’s fall season at the Golf Club of West Virginia in the West Virginia Open.
Division 5: In a back and forth battle all day, it was Kentucky member Joe Hollis who finished on top of the leader board by 2 shots over Lisa Moore. Joe, Lisa, Mendy Bays, Marshall Fortner, and Patrick McNeely all stayed close to each other all day in a truly competitive battle. The back 9 was the difference on the day as Joe was able to play consistent through the final 5 holes to capture his first win of the 2022 season.
