It was another GLORIOUS day under the sun on the grass at Angel Park Golf Club on the Palm Course for the Amateur Players Tour Las Vegas Palm Invitational. The course is in great shape and James “JB” Bischoff with Universal Retirement provided the best tee box announcement EVER!!!
Division 1 – Josh Crossen [68] continues to impress with his stellar play firing a 2 under to secure another impressive victory. Mike Brocki [74] finished second. Josh plans to keep piling up the wins and has a full schedule on the APT planned for the remainder of the season.
Division 2 – Another strong player on the APT Tour, Mark Smith [73] took home his third victory of the year with a very impressive performance at Angel Park. Mark has a very complete game and is looking to win the player of the year points race. Thomas Clark [78], our new member, took second and he’s planning to play more on our tour. Welcome to the Tour Tom!
Division 3 – Mark didn’t start really but with patience and perseverance, he was able to manage making par the last four holes to force the playoff against Greg Roush who’s played really steady this Sunday. On the first playoff hole Mark made a great up and down to save par and win his first APT tour championship. Congratulations Mark on your first win!
Division 4 – A solid battle all day in division 4 between Brennan Wedewer [82] and Mark Maniora [86]. Wedewer was able to hold on for a 4-shot lead over Maniora. Wedewer was having a good day with his putter this Sunday for sure resulting in 6 pars and a birdie for the 9 holes. Struggled on a few holes off the tee box and made a couple of double bogeys but he kept playing his game and stayed focused by keeping it simple. Congratulations Brennan on the great play and championship.
Division 5 – Coming over from the California APT Tour Tommy Weatherby fired an impressive [86] to take a 6-shot lead over second place finishers Matt Coleman [92] and Michael Moore [92]. This is Tommy’s first win on the APT tour and plans to make all the events for the rest of the season.
Senior Net – Another tournament and another “double dip” as Tommy Weatherby [69] won by 1 shot over Mark Smith [70] and Jimmy Niesen [70]. Impressive win Tommy taking two trophies back to California. See you at the next event!
Congratulations to all the Champions at the 2023 Angel Park Invitational.
A huge thank you to all our tour sponsors and especially a “big shoutout” to James Bischoff from Universal Retirement for doing the special announcements on hole one. You are the best.
We also would like to thank the staff at Angel Park Golf Club for helping host our event for the players. The course was in fantastic condition and the food and hospitality were excellent.
