On Sunday, the St. Louis Chapter headed south to Festus, MO to take on Crystal Highlands Golf Course. Players would be met with some of the fastest and most challenging greens on tour, with a tight layout that would challenge tour members to hit every club in their bag. The course was in phenomenal shape and players would be in for a fun test of golf. A little rain delay for a thunderstorm to pass wouldn’t cool down the low scores in each division on an otherwise beautiful day for golf.
In Division 1, Ryan Eckelcamp got off to a good start, shooting 1-under on his opening 9. However, the back 9 would be a special one, where he ran off a streak of an eagle and 4 consecutive birdies on route to shooting a 6-under par round of 66. On the senior side, Joe Finn won in a playoff over Greg Lewis to take home the senior honors.
In Divison 2, Chad Henry returned to the winners circle in style, carding a career low even par 72 to earn a 5-shot victory over Nate Hampton. Scott Horton finished in solo 3rd place with a round of 6-over par 78, while Tom Estopare and Chad Crawford finished tied for 4th with rounds of 79. On the senior side, Scott Horton returned to the winners circle with a 78, with Mike Lingenfelter finishing in 2nd place just 2 shots back at 80. In a 3-way tie for 3rd place, Todd Feuerhaken, Mark Lamoureux, and David Adams each shot 81.
In Division 3, the trend of low scores would continue for the day. Tim Koncki shot a career-best 75 to earn a one-shot victory over Mark Brouk, whose 76 was also a career best but fell one shot short of Koncki. Don Chase and Mark Ralph finshed tied for 3rd place with a round of 81, while the top 5 was filled out by Dave Baxmeyer and Vince Hulett with rounds of 83. On the senior side, Tim Koncki completed the double dip with his round of 75, earning a 6-shot vicory over Don Chase and Mark Ralph. Dave Baxmeyer rounded out the 4th position with a solid round of 83.
In Division 4, Michael Adkins converted his recent good play into a trip to the winner’s circle, shooting an 83 to best Rei Nakamura by one stroke, who has been knocking on the door the last few weeks. Dave Parker and Tyler Curry finished tied for 3rd 3-shots back with an 86, while Dave Draucker finished in 5th with an 87. On the senior side, Dave Draucker found himself back in the winner’s circle with an 87 to best Paul Spotanski and Robert Olsen by 3-shots.
In Division 5, Stevie Frank continued to show her improvement that has found her in the winner’s circle 3 times in her last 4 starts, shooting a 90 to earn a 4-shot win over Chris Brockmeyer, who finished in 2nd with a 94. Roger Eberlein and Josh Burnett finished tied for 3rd with scores of 95. On the senior side, Chris Brockmeyer earned his 2nd straight win, shooting a 94 to best Roger Eberlein by one shot.
