The Houston APT tour started the 2023 season at High Meadow Ranch GC in Magnolia, TX. We had a great day weather wise with temperatures reaching the low 80’s and a slight breeze. High Meadow Ranch was in good condition coming out of a winter freeze and heavy rains through January and early February. The greens were in great shape and tested players in all divisions.
Division 1 was a tightly contested race that came down to the final holes to determine the winner. Chris Hughes (81) relied on a solid back 9 to take home 1st place and the trophy. Matt Moran (82) finished second, and new to the Houston APT, Myles (MJ) Fecundo (84) finished third.
Division 2 had two new members to the Houston APT show up in style by taking the top two spots. Chase Greening (76) was down by one at the turn but had an outstanding 1-over 37 on the back nine to win 1st place by four shots. Jason Hawthorne (80) finished second. Robbie Guinn (85) and Brian Miller (85) tied for third.
Division 3 was another tightly contested race! Gene Chesson (79) was down by four shots at the turn but also had an outstanding 1-over 37 on the back nine to squeeze out 1st place by one shot. Pat Ryan (80) Houston APT Director finished second with a very happy 80 mixed in with all the duties of his first tournament. Mark Gonzales (82) and Robert Scarpati (82) tied for third.
Division 4 had a group of Houston APT veterans battling it out. Charles Ackerman (84) held on to his front nine lead to secure 1st place by three shots. Alvin Miles (87) finished second and Javier Quintero (88) took third.
Division 5 player Denis Corleto (91) had a solid day on the course taking 1st place by six shots. Wayne Jackson (97) took second and new Houston APT member Carolina Ackerman (97) finished in third.
The Senior Net Division was also a tightly contested race. Pat Ryan took home 1st place at -1. Mark Gonzales and Denis Corleto tied for second at +1. Alvin Miles and Charles Ackerman rounded out the top five tied for fourth at +3.
