2023 Snow Hill Golf Tournament Results

At Snow Hill Country Club we had 35 golfers come to play in the APT Ohio Open which was a 2-day Major Tournament and our 6th event of the year.  Snow Hill for the 2nd year in a row showed it’s teeth and led to some difficult scoring.  Day 2 proved to allow for more birdies and yielded a few more scores in the 70’s. 

In Division 1 Dustin Fields started strong with a birdie on the first hole of the tournament and it proved to be the only birdie on the front nine across the field on Day 1.  After a steady 39 on the front he would add a 37 on the back for a 76 on day 1.  Dustin entered Day 2 with a two shot lead and quickly added to that with a 37 on the difficult front nine.  After parring the first 6 holes on the back Dustin built a nice lead and coasted home for his 3rd APT victory in a row with a 75 on Day 2 for a 151 two day total and an 8 shot victory over 2nd place Adam Kirkendall.     

In Division 2 Robert Hunt stayed around the lead after day 1 with an 84 and trailed the overnight leader by just 2 shots.  Robert would come out and birdie the first hole in Day 2 and then birdie the 220 yard par 3 8th in route to a 2nd round 79 and a narrow 1 shot victory with a two day total of 163.  William Arnold was a par 3 master in posting 4 birdies in two rounds on par 3s.  After an 84 to start William would come home with 80 in round 2 for 164 and 2nd place.  General Fernbach would weather a tough day 1 of 87 with a terrific round of 79 in round 2 for a 166 total and 3rd place. 

In Division 3 Greg Hahn took command of the tournament early on in Day 1 and would never look back in Day 2.  After an 83 in Round 1, Greg would go on to shoot 78 in round 2 for a two-day total of 161 and a 10-shot victory.  Mike Heitz put up an impressive 84 in round 1 and followed it up with an 87 in round 2 for 171 and 2nd place.  Danny Hause would go 88, 86 for 174 and 3rd place.      

In Division 4 Jim Kohler entered day 2 just one shot off the lead after a solid 85 in round 1.  After going out in 43 in round 2 just like round 1 Jim would take the lead at the turn and never look back.  Jim would shoot 89 in round 2 for a 174 total and a 1 shot victory.  Robert Lawless put on a charge in round 2 shooting the low round in Div 4 in round 2 with 85 but fell just one shot short after the round 1 90 for a score of 175 and 2nd place.  Zach Walker and Round 1 leader Bill Fullen would tie for 3rd with two-day totals of 180.   

In Division 5 we had a playoff between Steve Smith and Steve Michael and it would end on the first playoff hole with Steve Michael making a 10 footer for par after being in the trees on the par 5 and Steve Smith making bogey.  Steve Michael was the overnight leader after shooting 93 in round 1 and followed with 95 for 188.  Steve Smith would shoot 97 in round 1 but then come back with an impressive 91 in round 2 to tie Steve at 188 and force the playoff.  Don Hubbard took 3rd place with 189.   

In the Senior Net optional side game 12 players got in with Greg Hahn taking the victory with a net total of 143.  Richard Ryan and Robert Lawless tied for 2nd place with net scores of 151.
