2023 Spanos Park Golf Tournament Results

On April 22nd, the Amateur Players Tour North Cal Chapter, visited the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. We were greeted with temperatures in the upper 70s with light breeze, it was great weather for golf! 

Division 2 was won by Bunna Sam with a great 74. Bunna won the puccini decanter trophy and $240 visa gift card! It would be a hard-fought victory as Bunna’s opening nine 40 left him two shots behind our early leader Aiden Armstrong and his solid 38. Aiden would hold the lead until a costly double bogey on the 12th gave Bunna the lead by one. Bunna would leave no doubt as he played great golf down the stretch finishing holes 13 through 18 two under with back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17. 

Division 3 was won by Rob Steves with a solid 80. Rob won the puccini decanter trophy and $220 visa gift card! After the opening nine Rob and new member Hunter Fournier were tied at 40. The lead bounced between Rob and Hunter between holes 10 and 14, while Nathaniel Berumen slowly chipped away and caught the lead pair after the 15th. This would leave us with a three hole shoot out for the win. On the 16th Hunter found trouble and made a costly double while Nate & Rob made par. After making pars on the 17th, it all came down to the 18th. Nate hit his tee shot right and found an unfortunate situation with his ball in a tall grass plant where he had to take relief and a one-shot penalty. He made an untimely bogey. Rob was thinking birdie on the tee, and he made it happen. Rob hit two great shots and rolled in the putt leaving no doubt as he was able to secure the victory by two! Second place finisher was awarded $60 visa gift card. 

Division 4 was won by James Padilla with a solid 80. As a guest James won $250 in tour credit that will be applied to his membership and next event along with the puccini decanter trophy. James played with us in previous seasons, and it is good to see him back. Things were in doubt after the opening nine as both James and Jeff Albritton cleared themselves of the field and were tied with solid opening nine 40s. Jeff would take a two-shot lead after the 12th but made a costly triple on the par 5 16th giving the lead to James by one. James finished par, par to secure the win! Jeff didn’t leave empty handed as he was awarded a $70 visa gift card. 

Division 5 was won by new member Anthony Altemoos with a solid 95. Anthony won $160 visa gift card and puccini decanter trophy! After the opening nine APT stalwart John Spradling was ahead by one over Anthony. Anthony would tie things up after the 10th and would take the lead after a solid par on the 12th. Anthony would finish the remaining six holes five over par and secure the victory with a closing nine 44. 

Senior Net was won by Jeff Albritton with an excellent two under par 70. Jeff won $120 visa gift card and a valuable 400 points in the senior next player of the year standings. After a solid opening nine net 33, Jeff held off his good friend and APT D3 champion Rob Steves to win by three.
