Well Summer decided to show up with temperature of 95 degrees for our Rose Bowl Championship at Brookside CC.  Some great golf was played, and the course was in good shape with fast greens.  For the first time in 4 tournaments we didn’t need a playoff to decide the winners as hole 18 seemed to be the determining factor as the divisions were won and lost on the 18th hole! Here is how the divisions went down…

Division 1: Eloy Rodriguez (Riverside, CA).  didn’t play his best round shooting 77, but it was good enough to take the win in Division 1 on this day.  Cole Lum (Moorepark, CA) first time joining us played a decent round to shoot 80 and second place.  Brookside is that course that doesn’t look like much of challenge but sneaks up and gets you with its distance and greens. Congrats Eloy on your first win on tour!

Division 2: We had our largest Division 2 field of the season with 14 players ready to battle it out!  Our returning Rose Bowl champion from 2023 Aaron Alvarado (Montebello,CA) was in the field to try and defend his title. Division 2 points leader for POY Angel Sotelo (Downey, CA) got off to a rough start with double bogey, bogey, bogey, but then turned on the jets on the back nine with some birdies and finished with a 77 after a bogey on 18, to tie him for second with Aaron Alvarado.  New player and playing as a guest was Vincent McLeod IV (Fullerton, CA) came out on fire with an eagle and a birdie on the front nine to make the turn at 1 under.  He then proceeded to go back to back doubles but held on with all pars down the stretch to finish with a great score of 75 and the Championship.  Vincent earned his membership on tour with his win as a guest and with a 75 will most likely get a promotion to division 1. Great playing guys.

Division 3: John Dwyer III (Ventura, CA) leading points player in Division 3, posted first with a decent round of 84 and had to wait until the end to see the results become final.  Scott Chalayan Cessna (Anaheim, CA) champion at the Wine Country Championship was playing strong with a 40 on the front nine, however went back-to-back double bogeys on 17 and 18 to give John Dwyer III the second-place money.  Meanwhile, newly promoted Division 3 player Ryan Maramis (Corona, CA) was playing for his first time ever in division 3 and on fire with 2 birdies on the front nine and a 38, However Ryan continued his great play on the back nine, with another birdie and finished with a round of 80 and took another win but this time in division 3!  Great battle today guys!

Division 4:  With Ryan Maramis now in Division 3, Division 4 was now up for grabs with some of the front runners in the field.  Kurt Odegard (Anaheim Hills, CA) along with newcomer Trenton Hansen (Murrieta, CA) were playing well.  Also playing well was Walker Koch (Los Angeles, CA) who was playing for his second time on tour. Kurt shot a 90 and was in the hunt for the win along with Trenton, however Trenton crashed on the 18th hole with a triple not only costing him the win, but bumped him down to third with a 91. Walker double bogeyed 17 but bounced back with a birdie on 18 to take the win and his first on our tour!  Way to go Walker, great birdie on 18 to win it with an 88 in Division 4.

Division 5: We had a good group of guys playing in division 5 with the defending champ at the Rose Bowl Tommy Weatherby not in the field this week.  So, a new champ would emerge.  Robert Olmos (Ontario, CA) was back in the mix after taking a few tournaments off.  Robert was consistent with a 47, 48, total of 95 on his round.  Jacob Maramis (Corona, CA) Points leader in division 5 for POY was also playing solid and even with his double bogey, bogey finish, his round of 89 won by 6 shots to take the championship.  This win and his score of 89 most likely will push Jacob up into division 4, for the remainder of the season with all his wins and great play.  Robert finished in second place with his 95 was excited to get in the money!

Senior Net contest: Robert Olmos (Ontario, CA) with his great play in Division 5 finished with a net score of -2 in the senior net contest giving him his first win ever on the tour and the Rose Bowl Cup! Finishing in second was John Dwyer III (Ventura, CA) at even par.

Open Net Contest: We had a tie in our Open Net contest for second place between Angel Sotelo (Downey, CA) Bud Vogt (Menifee CA) and Aaron Alvarado all shooting even par.  Ryan Maramis (Corona, CA) with his great round of 80 turned into a 5 under win in Open Net.

Congratulations to all of our winners!
