Tournament Champions
As we approached the weekend the forceast was not seeming to be in our favor as it called for rain most of the day! We arrived waiting to see what the day would bring and to our surprise it was partly cloudy with a few sprinkles as we started the day. By the time most groups had made the turn to the back 9, the rain showed up and made it some tough conditions to play golf, but everyone kept moving forward.
Division 1: Division 1 went to a playoff between Twon Fullman from Orange County and Bryden Ferrato from Los Angelas. None of the Division 1 players played very strong as it only took an 84 to get into the playoff. The first playoff hole saw bryden not be able to get up and down and took a bogey, but Twon made a good par 5 to take the title.
Division 2: Division two also struggled with the conditions and Robert Santoyo from Downey, CA took his first win with an 82 score, followed up with a tie for second with Kyle Cardoza from Orange County as he continues to take control of the division 2 player of the year race. He tied with David Vogt, new member to the tour who showed he is capable of playing with the D2 players his first time out.
Division 3: Division 3 wasn’t looking like a playoff but ended up going to one to the surprise of Drew Perez. He was out watching the D1 playoff when he found out that he himself would be in a playoff with Jose Garcia, who was dominating the course and seemed to be the safe winner, until he struggled coming down the stretch. Both men shot greats rounds of 79 and normally would win outright but today it went to a playoff and it took 2 holes to determine that Drew Perez from Downey, CA would be our D3 winner. 3rd place went to guest Andy Diaz who shot 83.
Division 4: Kurt Odegard from Yorba Linda, CA past winner in D4 on our tour was playing strong and had a lead coming down the stretch only to double bogey the final 18th hole! That made way for multiple winner Ryan Maramis Corona CA. to once again win the tournament with an 85. Rohit Desai from Northern California was playing strong with a 41 on the front nine but the rain got the best of him and he finished 3rd.
Division 5: Another playoff on this day was in Division 5. New players and guests on this day 15 year old Jacob Maramis Corona, CA and Ronik Desai from Irvine, CA bothed finished with a 95 and went to the 1st hole in a playoff. Ronik unfortunately pulled his tee shot left off the tee and that opened the door for Jacob to take his first APT Division 5 championship. In 3rd place Stephen Julius, Fullerton CA. Played will as a guest and hopes to join the tour.
Senior Net contest saw Jose Garcia who lost in a playoff in D3, but was able to take the crown in the Senior Net with a great score of 69! Second was Jeff Foss, Rancho Cucamonga, CA with a 73, and third was Rohit Desai Dublin, CA with a 77.
Our Member/Guest champions were Jose Garcia Lake Elsinore, CA and Andy Diaz from Corona, CA with a great team score of 62!!
Congratulations to all of our winners!
