Tournament Champions
The Amateur Players Tour-Atlanta continued the 2024 season at the tour favorite Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga. Eighty players across five divisions competed for nearly $5000 in total prizes.
In Division 1, players coming down the stretch were chasing James Leggett, who held the lead for most of the day. Tony Wise, visiting from the Kentucky Chapter, posted an even par round of 72 to put some heat on James. James struggled down the stretch to post +1 (73), to miss out by one shot for a playoff. However, Yannick Gummowski, eagled to 17th hole to get to even and finish there to force a playoff. Tony Wise was victorious after the first playoff hole and was awarded the trophy and the $290 Visa Gift Card.
Division 2 was a close battle between the top three finishers for the day. David Howard used five birdies on the day to post a +2 (74). Players behind David seen the score and knew what was needed. Ryan Benefield and Clay Prickett had opportunities to catch David, however, the winning score ended up being the +2 (74) by David. David was awarded the trophy and the $350 Visa Gift Card.
Kevin Satterfield, the Division 3 Champ and Sr Net Champ, posted a +2 (74) to take the title at Governors Towne Club. Kevin was awarded $600 for both victories and both trophies. Congrats are also for Kevin who will earn a battlefield promotion into Division 2. Congratulations Kevin on the spectacular round.
Kip Moore made his first start of the 2024 season, and it was one to remember. Kip was able to settle down after a rough start to the day. Kip played a five hole stretch at even par from holes 7 to 11 to right the ship for the victory. Kip was awarded the trophy and $250 Visa Gift Card. Congrats on the great start to the 2024 season.
Doug Gibbs started the day as the man to beat in Division 5. Doug has already posted two wins three other top three finishes on the season. Doug added his third victory of the season at Governors Towne Club. Doug was awarded the trophy and $250 in prizes. John Verdugo finished second, his best finish on tour. Congrats to both players.
Next up for Atlanta is a trip to Heron Bay on March 24th. Registration is open online and this event is sure to sell out well before close of registration.
