The Amateur Player Tour-Atlanta held the second stop of the spring at Heron Bay Golf Club in Locust Grove, GA. Players were greeted with a fair, yet challenging layout, and players all had great comments about the course conditions.
In Division 1, Scott Chaffin started out on fire and used four birdies on the front nine to take a three-shot lead into the back nine. Charles Hartley took advantage of a few mistakes coming in from Scott to give himself a chance on the final hole to win in regulation. After Charles only bogey on the day, both players posted a -1 (71) to claim there spot in the playoff. Scott was able to secure the win on the first playoff hole and collect the $360 first place prize. Congrats to you Scott and great playing.
Division 2 also seen a playoff for the top spot as Sean Pierce and Kevin Satterfield posted scores of +7 (79). Players proceeded to the first playoff hole where Kevin made a routine par while Sean didn’t convert the par chance to continue the playoff. Kevin was awarded the trophy and $250 first place prize.
The Division 3 winner made three birdies on the day to help pull away from the field. Blake House posted a +7 (79) to take the victory over Adam Leys who posted a +12 (84). Blake also finished in 3rd place in the Senior Net Competition. Total winnings today for Blake reached $340. Congrats on the great playing today.
In Division 4, Anthony Taylor found himself down one shot with two holes to play. Anthony took advantage of a double bogey made by Steve Thomas on the 17th hole to tie it up. Heading to 18 tee, the hardest hole on the course, Anthony was able to finish off with a par to secure his first victory on the APT. Anthony was awarded the trophy and a $250 Visa Gift Card.
Doug Gibbs, the Division 5 winner, is continuing to improve on his already solid season. Doug posted a score of +15 (87) to take the victory over William Jones. This is Doug’s third win on the season and also tacked on the Senior Net victory as well. Doug’s total winnings to $415 for the event. Congrats Doug on both victories.
Next up for Atlanta is a trip to Royal Lake Country Club in Flowery Branch, GA on April 13th, 2024. Registration is open now and will close at 11:59 PM on April 4th, 2024.
