Tournament Champions
53 Golfers kicked off the Spring Season at Kiln Creek Golf Course in Newport News for the Virginia Capital Chapter. Golfers from New Jersey, Central Pennsylvania, Maryland, Carolina Triad and Virginia Capital comprised the field.
New Comer Josh Africa of Virginia Capital captured his first victory of 2024 with a 7 over 79 to win by two shots over Nick Politis.
Chris Wright beat 2023 Division 2 National Player of the Year Chris Denz in a one hole playoff to capture the division by shooting a 9 over 81. Isaiah Harris, Jim Baugher and Buzz Buzinski finished tied for 3rd with 12 over 84s.
Regulation wasn’t enough for Division 3 as Rick Knepp and Joe Renteria had an 8 Hole Playoff to decide the Championship. Both shot 8 over 80. Charlie Hertel finished 3rd with an 84.
In Division 4 a great back 9 by winner Peyton Hottel proved to be the key for a one shot victory over Ian Thomas. Hottel shot 15 over, 87 to Thomas’ 88. Paul Kaflinski finished 3rd with an 89.
James Sims took a 3 shot victory in Division 5 with a 99 to outdistance Daniel Carroll and Cameron Adams.
In the Open Net Division Daniel Carroll captured the title with a -4 Net over a trio of golfers to include Tyler Ellison, Mike Shaw and Jetti Pifer.
Senior Net Champion was Joe Renteria by a match of cards over Rick Knepp. Both shot -1. Paul Kaflinski and Ian Thomas tied for third at +1.0
