2024 Pine Island Country Club Tournament Results

What a day!!!  Tropical Storm/Hurricane Debbie was churning in the Atlantic, south of Myrtle Beach.  The outer bands were close by and as a result, we were wondering if we were going to get the event in.  With Temps in the high 70’s it was a very pleasant day at Pine Island CC.  88 players started on the day and we had great competition across all 5 divisions of play. 
 

In Division 1, 22 Players teed it up and we had a first-time winner.  Cole Hudson (CLT) who used his home course knowledge to shoot a great round of 68 (-3). Kyle Moffett (Triad) was second shooting 70 (-1).  Third place went to Wally Love shooting a 73 (+2).  We had a 3 way tie for 4^th with Chuck Floyd (CLT), Todd Mavis (CLT) and George Harris (CLT) all shooting 74 (+3) and sharing a portion of the 4^th place payout. 

On the Senior Side Wally Love (CLT) take home first with Chuck Floyd (CLT), Todd Mavis (CLT) and George Harris (CLT) share the 2^nd place honors.

In Division 2, We had 25 golfers battle it out.  Was it the socks?  Joe Zabrecky (CLT) sporting some nice long socks shot an impressive round of 73 (+2) to win by 2 shots over Johnny Moffett (CLT) who shot a score of 75 (+4) .  Third place went to Jimmy Popp(CLT) who shot 76 (+5)   In Fourth we had a tie between Tony Mangini and Josh Johnston with both players shooting 77 (+6). 

On the Senior side, Zabrecky made it a true double dip taking home 1^st place in the senior division as well.  Moffett claimed the bridesmaid position in this competition as well.

17 players started in Division 3 and it wasn’t even close.  Josh Ray, shoots his best round of the season shooting 75 (+4) and easily wins the contest by 8 shots over a 4 way tie for 2^nd place with Freddie Coffey (CLT), Travis Blackwell (UPS), Marc Janse Van Rensburg (CLT) and Dallas Penrod (CLT) all shooting 83 (+12).   

On the senior side, It was a tie with Travis Blackwell and Freddie Coffey sharing 1^st place honors. 

Congrats to Josh, Freddie and Travis on your victories today. 

On a side note, with his score of 75, Josh’s APT index dropped into the Division 2 range and has been promoted for his next event.  Keep up the great playing!! 

Division 4 saw 14 players tee it up and it was Lee Touchton (CLT) who continued his consistent play.  Lee shoots 85 (+14) to win by 3 over a trio of players.  Calvin Carter (CLT), Neal De La Cruz (CLT) and Eric Seibert (CLT) all shared the 2^nd and 3^rd place honors by way of their scores of 88 (+15). 

On the senior Side, Lee made it a true double dip taking home first place honors as well.  Calvin Carter took home second place honors. 

Congrats to Lee on your true double dip. 

Division 5 saw Robert Wagner (CLT) show continued improvement to shoot 89 (+18) to win by 5 over Doug Willie (CLT) who took home second place in the open division and also took the top spot in the Senior Division 5 contest.   

Note:  With Robert’s score posted, he also earned a promotion to division 4. 

Congrats to all of our champions and we have just two more local events left.
