Tournament Champions
On July 14, after a 1-month hiatus, the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour traveled to Rosedale Golf & Country Club in Lakewood Ranch for our 6th event of the 2024 season! We had 37 players sign up to take on this tight and challenging course! Highlights of the day included:
- Division 1: In Division 1, the front 9 saw Chase Bertrand, Robert Greene, and Matt Ross separate themselves from the pack. Bertrand had a 2-stroke advantage over Greene and Ross. Ross and Greene played solid back nines, but they could not match Bertrand’s consistency, and Chase Bertrand won with a 3 over 75, with Greene shooting 78 for second, and Ross carding a 79 for 3rd.
- Division 2: On the front 9, Daren Green fired a sizzling 1-over 37 and jumped out to a 3-stroke lead on Bruce Killian with the rest of the group struggling on the tight course. Green shot 6-over on the back, but that was good enough to take a 5-shot victory. Nick Westbrook got it together on the back and jumped ahead of Killian for the 2nd place finish.
- Division 3: Brian Zoly jumped out to an early lead on the front nine shooting a 4 over 40, with Bret Enos 1 shot back, Stephane Soucy and Waymon Fuselier 2 shots behind him, and Jeff Rainford just 3 back. On the back nine, Rainford turned things around and shot a sizzling 3-over 39 to overtake the field for the win! Bret Enos was the most consistent of the rest of the Division 3 field and he took second just 2 shots back. Stephane Soucy and Chris Menna tied for 3rd 4-shots back of Rainford.
- Division 4: This group was a head-to-head contest between Gage Hennegar and Andres Alarcon. On the front 9, Alarcon took a 4-shot lead over Hennegar, but on the back 9, Hennegar turned it around and with his solid back nine, overtook Alarcon for the win!
- Division 5: D5 was a good battle the whole round! Lee Thompson had a 2-shot lead after the front 9 over Mike Abbott and Rusty Lingenfelter. Thompson was able to remain consistent on the back nine and get the 2-stroke victory over Abbott with a 94.
- Senior Net: 9 out of the 17 eligible players participated in the Senior Net game, and two of our Division winners, Jeff Rainford (D3), and Daren Green (D2) would finish 1, 2, with Stephane Soucy just 1-shot back!
A huge thank you goes out to Grant Spencer and the entire staff at Rosedale Golf & Country Club for providing us a venue that was very challenging and fun. All of the staff was very helpful and the 19th Hole room that they let us use was fantastic. We’ll be looking forward to coming back in the future!
Our next event is at Eagle Ridge in Fort Myers, and it will be on Sunday, July 21. Remember, the more players we get, the bigger the payouts! Sign up now for your spot to play! Registration closes on July 15!
