Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe NC hosted the APT this past Sunday. This event was a make up from the event that was originally scheduled in early May. While the weather forecast was sketchy at best, Mother Nature looked out for us on this day with no issues getting the rounds completed. For those that recalled, in May we had Lightening get within 7 miles of the course and didn’t leave us alone for 3 hours until we had to postpone the event. Thanks to Nick Jacobi for hosting us and treating us very well.
In Division 1, 16 Players teed it up, starting at 7:00 a.m. on this cloudy NC morning. Matteo Blanchfield got off to a hot start with Birdies on 1,3,5 and 8 to turn in 4 under par. 1 bogie, 1 birdie on the back 9 was good enough to claim victory with a score of 68 (-4) on this Sunday. Jerell Fields (CLT) shot 70 (-2) for a solid 2nd place finish. John Masotti (Triad) and Chris Barnard (CLT) shared 3rd place honors with both players shooting even par 72.
On the Senior Side Chris Barnard takes home the 1st place prize with a score of 72.
In Division 2, what a battle we had.
4 players all tied at 75 (+3) with each player getting there quite differently. Charles Devenney sitting at +4 made birdie to get to +3. Jimmy Popp (CLT) sitting on +2 made bogie on 17 to come back to +3. Tom Cone sitting at +2 on 18 tee made bogie on 18 to come back to +3. Chase brown sitting at +2 on 16 tee saw him make a triple bogie to move to +5, but birdies on 17 and 18 got him into the playoff.
So, we had a 4 person playoff going back to number 1. Tom, Jimmy and Charles all hit the green and had makable birdie putts. Chase Brown missed the green long and had to putt from off the green. Chase was up first and drained the birdie from off the green. Unfortunately, none of the other players could match Chase’s birdie and had to settle for a T-2nd.
One the senior side, Tom Cone and Jimmy Popp shared the Senior victory.

In Division 3, Scott Dixon (CLT) who had been struggling to find his game, out it all together on Sunday. Going out in 3 over par was a good start, but an Even par back nine allowed Scott to post 75 (+3) and win by 3 shots. Mike Kim (CLT) was second wit a score of 78 (+6) followed by Joe Cannatti with a score of 81 (+9) and Marc Janse Van Rensburg rounded out the top paying positions scoring 82 (+10).
On the Senior Side, Scott Dixon made it a true Double Dip scoring the victory with Mike Kim grabbing 2nd place.

In Division 4 we had 16 players tee it up. This was a very close competition with Samrat Sen (CLT) claiming a 1 shot victory shooting 82 (+10). Second place was split between Jimmie Chapman and Gary Nivens with both players shooting 83 (+11)
On the senior Side, it was Samrat claiming both the open and Senior division today making it a true double dip as well.

Division 5 saw us with 7 players and Tim Rabon made it back to back victories over the weekend winning at Cheraw on Saturday and coming back and winning at Stonebridge on Sunday. Tim’s round of 90 (+18) was 6 better than runner up Aldy Alcon who took home second place honors shooting 96(+24)
As you may have guessed it, Tim decided to Double Dip today and made it a clean sweep taking home both the Open and Senior titles this day.

The homestretch is upon us, with only 3 local events left on the schedule. 8-7 (Pine Island CC), 8-12 (Northstone Club) and 8-24 Cheraw State Park II. Player of the Year races are up for grabs.
