Tournament Champions
The Angel Park (Mountain) Golf Course set the stage for an exciting day of golf on November 5, 2023, as teams gathered for the 2-person team gross and net championship. Perfect weather conditions added to the delight of the day, and the competition was fierce.
Gross Contest:
The winners of the gross contest were the dynamic duo of Jonathan Minkoff and Andrew Yeh, who showcased their skills with a remarkable gross score of -5. They outplayed their competitors by two strokes, leaving no room for doubt in their victory. In a neck-and-neck battle, they managed to secure the top spot, beating the team of Josh Crossen and Matt Baiza, who finished with a solid -3. Both teams impressively maintained clean, bogey-free scorecards throughout the day.
The Crossen/Baiza team held a one-stroke lead at the halfway point of the tournament but couldn't withstand the late surge of Minkoff and Yeh. The latter team birdied two of the last three holes to clinch the championship.
Net Contest:
In the net contest, it was Mark Maniora and Joseph Woodward who emerged as the victors, with a remarkable net score of -11. Their impressive performance saw them overtaking their rivals and securing the top spot in this fiercely competitive event. The Klaver father and son duo, consisting of Kreg Klaver and Kreg A Klaver, posted a solid -10 score, showcasing their skill and teamwork.
The Klavers held the clubhouse lead with their -10 score, but their joy was short-lived. Just a few groups behind them, the Maniora/Woodward team faced the 18th tee one stroke down. In a thrilling climax, they managed to card a net eagle, taking the lead and securing the net championship by a mere one-stroke advantage.
The day was marked by intense competition and excellent golfing, with both the gross and net contests providing excitement for players and spectators alike. The perfect weather conditions added to the enjoyment of the event, making it a fantastic way to kick off the APT LV 2024 season.
Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding performances, and a special shoutout to the winners, Jonathan Minkoff and Andrew Yeh for their gross victory, and Mark Maniora and Joseph Woodward for their net triumph. The tournament showcased the spirit of teamwork and determination, making it a memorable day for all involved.
