The Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited one of our favorite courses on tour, Towhee Golf Club in Spring Hill.  114 players competed in very hot conditions as temperatures hovered in the 90s with a heat index over 100. Not only did players have to battle the tough competition, they also battled staying hydrated and finding as much shade as possible!  Over $4,300 in tournament prizes were awarded and over $1,900 paid out in our optional side games.

In Division 1, Ted Saylors from Signal Mountain cards 7 birdies to capture the win with his round of -5 65. Brian Barry from Nashville closed his round with birdies on the par 5 16th, the par 5 17th and par 4 18th to finish one stroke back with his -4 66. Atlanta Chapter’s Nathan Frazier secured 3rd place posting -1 69. Memphis Chapter member, Derek Joslin, and Culeoka’s Ivan Mccullough finish in a 4th-place tie at +3 73.

Division 2, which had the largest field of 31 players, was won by Smyrna’s Eric Fleming, who carded two birdies and an eagle on the par 5 3rd. He finished the day with +3 73 and clears the field by 3 strokes. Two players tied for 2nd place at +6 76: Craig Ketelsen from Murfreesboro and Camden Johnson from Thompson Station. Clarksville’s Lee Busey takes sole possession of 4th place with +7 77. A host of 6 players finished in a 5th place tie: Gregory Wyatt from Smyrna, Andrew Stone from Nashville, Dan Estes from Lebanon, Sonny Beachy from Hendersonville, Trip Crawford from Nolensville and Jack Hranec, also from Nolensville.

In Division 3, Brentwood’s Will Houston makes 2 birdies and scores a three-stroke victory with his round of +4 74. Finishing in 2nd place was Dickson’s Lowe Prescott and his round of +7 77. Columbia’s Sam Cook finishes his day in 3rd place with his round of +9 79. Two players tied for 4th place at +10 81: Lewisburg’s Bryan Harwell and Spring Hill’s Todd Osinski.

In Division 4, Steve Austin from Nashville captured his 1st victory on tour with a one-stroke win. Austin posted +10 80 to best Paris’ Jason Bucher, who finished at +11 81. Smyrna’s Thurman Boyd posts +12 82 takes the 3rd place prize.
