Tournament Champions
The weather was a beautiful Sunny day after two days of rain made the course a bit soggy. The rain held off on Saturday though, and players enjoyed an excellent new venue for the APT, Twin Oaks GC at San Marcos, CA.
Division 1: Division one saw its largest field of the season and tournament with 14 D1 players. New member from Fargo ND played a great round and held off 2 contenders with his even par 72. Daniel Ferraris was 2 under after a hole out for a 2 on par 4 sixth hole. Elliott Sherrill, two-time winner on the tour this season had another strong round with a 74 and took third place.
Division 2: Division two came down to a two-man race as Kyle Kardoza and Will Duff separated themselves from the pack shooting 77 and 79. Kyle took his first win for the 2024 season and kept up his strong play on the tour this year. All others in the field struggled with the course and conditions.
Division 3: What a day it was in Division 3! A field of 13 players battled it out with 4 players ending up tied for 2nd place. Craig Ogden from Hemet, CA came into the final hole 18 with a 2 shot lead but almost gave it away with a couple of short chips. He held on to make a bogey and take a 1 shot victory with 84 and 4 others tied for 2nd with an 85. Drew Perez, Downey, CA. Jose Garcia, Lake Elsinore, CA. Andres Viramontes, and Peyton Raab from Temecula, CA all tied for 2nd.
Division 4: The wet conditions were no problem for Mark Elliott, new member on our tour. As he claimed the D4 title with a great round of 82. His victory was good for a $240 Visa Gift Card and the trophy. Making a run at Mark was Thomas Meagher from Palm Desert, CA with an 86 and $110 gift card. Mark was playing strong and made a 65 foot putt for one of his two birdies on the front nine.
Division 5: A great field of 8 players teed it up in division 5. Kirk Olmos, Moreno Valley, CA who won last time on tour was playing well on the front nine but ended up fading into third place. Meanwhile Jason Ko, winner at Terra Lago and Nick Swinmurn from Santa Barbara, CA battled it out for the trophy. Jason ended up finishing with a great round for D5 with a 90 to take 1st place and Nick ended up with 2nd .
Senior Net contest saw Mark Elliott, Corona, CA with a great round of 82 win the Senion net at 2 under par. Thomas Meagher ended up taking 2nd.
