Golfers came from Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, and other states along with Southern California for the 2-day Elevated Event Wine Country Championships!  2 days of strong competition and great weather along with 2 great golf courses provided a magnificent weekend in Temecula, CA.  The famous wine barrel trophies were on the line along with a $500 first place prize in each division, donated by our sponsors for this event.

Division 1: Division 1 had their hands full at Cross Creek Golf Club for day 1 of our tournament.  Jacob Valente (Ventura,CA) who set the pace, finishing with a 77.  However, guest Ryan Horstketter from (Evansville, Indiana) was tied with Jacob with another great round of 77.  They both had a 5 shot lead over Elliott Sherrill (Brea, CA) and Eloy Rodriguez (Riverside, CA) going into day 2.  Elliott and Eloy were not in the final group at Temecula Creek Golf Course as they began round 2 but started to close the gap. Elliott was on fire posting 3 birdies on the back nine including 17 and 18 to close with an even par 72 and 11 over for the tournament.  Jacob and Ryan both had some bogeys on the back nine and Jacob took a 7 on par 5 13th to give Elliott the lead.  Jacob birdied 17 but with Elliott making birdies on 17 and 18 Elliott Sherrill once again took the trophy and first place $500 prize sponsored by EBS Escrow. Jacob took second and $200 one shot back.

Division 2: Division 2 was tightly contested both days and back and forth the lead would change.  Robert Santoyo (Whittier, CA) and first-time player Tanner Mandel (Laguna Hills, CA) both were in the lead with a 77 and 80 going into day 2.  David (Bud) Vogt (Menifee, CA) was 9 shots back starting day 2 at Temecula Creek Golf Club.  Bud was out in the early groups and not in the final pairings but played well shooting a 75 and holding the lead as the final group was still on the course.  Robert started off rough on the front 9 with a triple and 3 bogeys to let Tanner tie for the lead going into the back 9.  Robert got hot shooting 3 birdies on the back nine and even though he double bogeyed the 18th it was enough for a 4-shot victory with a 76 and plus 10 over two days of golf.  Robert won the wine barrel trophy and $500 sponsored by Hungerford Team Real Estate. Tanner won $300 and Bud Vogt held on for third and $150.

Division 3: Division 3 was history in the making Scott Chalayan Cessna (Anaheim, CA) had been on our tour for 3 years and had yet to break through. However, he put himself in contention after day 1 at Cross Creek with an 84 and only 3 shots back.  Andres Viramontes (Murrieta, CA) had been playing well and was in contention at the Scottdale Arizona major recently.  He started day 1 on fire and shot a great round on a tough course with an 81 and a 3 shot lead going into day 2.  New member Dion Barba (Murrieta, CA) was 5 shots back starting day 2 and out early, ahead of the final group.  Dion shot a great round of 79, with 3 birdies and held the lead as the final group was on course.  Andres struggled on the front nine with a 43, and Scott was playing well with a 39 on the front to take the lead going to the back nine.  Andres triple bogeyed the 18th  but Scott also double bogeyed the 18th to make things tight.  Andres fell to third and took home the $150 prize. Dion’s score of plus 22 over 2 days was good enough for 2nd and $300.  And for the first time ever Scott Chalayan Cessna with a 2-day score of plus 19 won the wine barrel trophy and the $500 prize! Great playing.

Division 4:  Players from Utah, Oklahoma, and all over California filled the division 4 field. Kurt Odegard (Anaheim Hills, CA) and Rohit Desai (Dublin, CA) took the lead after day 1, both shooting 88.  Not far behind was Marty Rinehart, (Upland, CA) and Ryan Maramis (Corona, CA) with 91 and 92 rounds. Out early on day 2 Kason Giles, (St George, Utah) was having a great round and was advancing on the leaders.  By the time he finished his round of 82 with 2 birdies he was in 2nd and waiting to see how the leaders would finish.  Kurt Odegard, back off of a hip injury, was playing well on the front nine and took a solid lead over Rohit, and Marty, however on the back nine he started to struggle posting 3 double bogeys and one of them on 18, that sealed the win for Kason Giles from Utah to take home the wine barrel trophy and $500.  Kurt ended up second to take $250.

Division 5: Wow, was Division 5 a tight race from beginning to end, literally the last hole!  Newcomer Armando Aguirre (Murrieta, CA), Ronak Desai (Irvine, CA), Jacob Maramis, (Corona, CA) and Kirk Olmos (Moreno Valley, CA) all battled it out.  Jacob had a one-shot lead after day 1 at Cross Creek Golf Club over Armando.  Jacob found some struggles on the back nine with 2 triples and 3 doubles which opened things up for Armando to have a breakthrough first ever tournament on the APT.  Armando finished with a 95 and adding to his 94 from day 1, gave him the wine barrel trophy and the $500 prize, sponsored by The Smoke Whisperer BBQ. Jacob finished second for the $250 prize.

Senior Net contest: Dion Barba (Murrieta, CA) with his fine play in division 3 shot 1 under and took home the Senior Net wine barrel trophy and $355.  Second went to Rohit Desai (Dublin, CA) and John Dwyer III (Ventura, CA) finished third.

Open Net Contest: Scott Chalayan Cessna with his great comeback win in Division 3 also earned him the win in Open Net with 7 under par and another $400 and trophy!  Second went to Robert Santoyo who finished at 2 under, Andres Viramontes took 3rd and William Kamp, (Los Angeles, CA) took fourth.

Congratulations to all of our winners!
