We had 38 players compete at Challenge GC in Mebane, NC. The weather for the majority of the day was in the 90s. The golf course was in fantastic shape and the scores reflected the tough conditions of wind. The theme of the day was playoffs as we had 3 on the course playoffs.
In Division 1 we had a very tight race between 3 players. Coston Fogleman of Hillsborough, NC carded an early 73(+1). The other 2 players in the hunt shot 1 or 2 shots of the lead. John Masotti and Kyle Moffett carded 74(+2) to come 1 shot short. Fogleman has now won 5 events in the early part of the season.
In Division 2 Mac McMillan and Travis Warluft carded a round of 76(+4) to start the playoff theme. The players went back onto the course. After 1 playoff hole Travis Warluft carded a par on the 1st hole to win tournament. McMillan takes runner up and Richard Johnson finishes 3rd. Warluft and Mcmillan split the senior double dip division.
In Division 3 Rob Andrews continued his great season and carded a round of 84(+12) to win by 4 shots over Trinity Manning, Duane Fisher and DJ Krisch. Andrews takes a commanding lead into the local finals at Jamestown.
In Division 4 the playoff theme continued as Lane Abernathy and Neal De La Cruz carded a round of 86(+14). The players headed to the 1st playoff hole. Cruz made par on the 1st hole to win the event. Abernathy won the senior double dip contest.
In Division 5 we another playoff as Billy Jones and David Dick carded a round of 91(+19). Dick and Jones headed back onto the course where Jones made bogey to win the tournament. Jones also takes the senior double contest. Jones takes a good lead into the local finals at Jamestown next week.
