2025 Central Pennsylvania Applecross Country Club Tournament Results
Tournament Champions
July 14, 2025 – Central PA Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour – Applecross Country Club Event
This event proved to be a challenge for many contestants, with the high humidity also taking a toll on the field. The course was in pristine shape, featuring clean fairways and immaculate greens. Applecross offers a variety of challenging holes along with some very gettable ones. High risk versus high reward—play it safe, or go for it. Applecross offers it all.
Division 1
Dan Ayars claimed victory once again, earning his place at the top of the field. A back-nine score of 43 was balanced by an excellent front-nine score of 33. Dan recorded five birdies on the day and also claimed two Super Skins and four Division Skins. His total round of 76 wasn’t his best, but it was more than enough to cruise to the Division 1 trophy.
Division 2
The Division 2 field started with nine contestants. Two players, Rocky Dare and Paul Hess, rose to the top and battled it out to the very end. When the smoke cleared, Rocky Dare emerged victorious with a stellar +4 round of 76. Paul Hess secured second place with a total of 78 and two birdies, which earned him one Super Skin and two Division Skins. Kenny Ulrich came in third with a score of 83.
Division 3
The day began with 14 players in Division 3, but the spotlight was on two contenders, separated by just one stroke at the finish. John Friedman of Dillsburg, PA, once again came out on top, earning the Division 3 trophy, points, and prize money with a final score of 82. John stayed steady with one birdie, six pars, and nothing worse than a bogey. He also earned one Division Skin. Second place went to Kelly Hopkins of Jenkintown, PA, with an 83—just one shot short of forcing a playoff. Rounding out the top three was Dan Kennelly, showcasing short game magic for a final score of 87.
Division 4
This 10-player field delivered an exciting battle right to the end. Thomas DeYoung of Lebanon, PA, and Jordan Miller from Elizabethtown, PA, were neck and neck. DeYoung played the front nine in just four over par, but the back nine left him wishing for a few redos. In the end, a one-stroke difference earned the trophy and first-place prize for Jordan Miller with a final score of 87. DeYoung finished with an 88. Third place went to Enrique Young of Cheverly, MD, with a respectable 90. An honorable mention goes to J.P. Perron, who earned an impressive four Division Skins and one Super Skin.
Division 5
Kyle Crain of Jenkintown, PA, claimed the win in Division 5 with a final score of 93. He made one birdie on hole #3 and earned four Division Skins. Second place went to Ethan Hopkins, also from Jenkintown, PA, with a score of 95. Ethan earned a remarkable six Division Skins and one Super Skin. Third place was taken by Max Brent of Fleetwood, PA, with a total of 101.
Open Net
Fifteen players under the age of 50 entered the Open Net competition. When all was said and done, Kyle Crain emerged as the champion with a final net score of two under (70), claiming the trophy, points, and prize money. Second place went to Ethan Hopkins at +2 (74), and third place was earned by Dan Ayars with a 77.
Senior Net
Sixteen players competed in the Senior Net division (ages 50+). First place went to Rocky Dare with a score of 72. Second place was taken by John Friedman at +1 (73). Third place was a three-way tie between Kelly Hopkins, Paul Hess, and Dan Kennelly, all finishing at +2 (74).
