Tournament Champions
Heavy rains and thunderstorms forced the Charleston Amateur Players Tour to get creative in order to finish its elevated event this past weekend at the exclusive Cat Island Club. Nonetheless, the show went on, as more than $3,000 in cash and VISA gift card prizes were awarded.
Nestled in the Sea Islands area of Beaufort, Cat Island is the premier private club in the heart of the Lowcountry, featuring an 18-hole championship layout golf course that includes many scenic views. Golfers may also encounter some wildlife during a round at Cat Island, as the property’s ponds and lakes are patrolled by alligators.
The Charleston Amateur Players Tour travels the Lowcountry of South Carolina, giving golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in ten different divisions. The tour is designed by the players, for the players, and is intended to provide a fun and competitive environment for all.
With thunderstorms soaking the course leading up to the tournament, staff at the Cat Island Club managed to create a modified shotgun start to allow all golfers to get their 18-hole rounds in. Charleston Amateur Players Tour Owner and Operator Larry Lee noted Cat Island staff’s exceptional work to ensure the tournament could be played.
