The Charleston Amateur Players Tour traveled to Georgia this past weekend, hosting its tournament at Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah. Golfers were treated to a beautiful round of golf at Crosswinds, which features both a championship course and an executive course. The tournament took place on the championship course, which is an open, parkland style design that presents its fair share of challenges and fun for golfers. The Charleston Amateur Players Tour travels the Lowcountry of South Carolina, and portions of Georgia, offering golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in one of ten different divisions. Competitors have the chance to play some of the premier courses in the area, along with the hidden gems such as Crosswinds Golf Club. Located near the airport, Crosswinds has no homes on the course, offering golfers a peaceful round. Here’s a breakdown of results from Saturday’s tournament by division:

Division 1 – Locked in a tight battle on the back nine, Ben Hogan used two birdies to play the closing stretch in one under par, securing the victory in Division 1 with a round of 74. Hogan birdied the 10th and 15th holes to shoot 35 on the back nine and win by just one shot. Ryan Bakken and Tom Greenwood finished close behind in a tie for second place after both players carded rounds of 75. Bakken took advantage of the par fives at Crosswinds, playing the four holes in three under par. After two front nine birdies, Greenwood finished his round out in style with an eagle on the par-five 18th hole. Darryl Phelps finished fourth with a round of 87.

Division 2 – Kevin Lyles made three back nine birdies to solidify his victory in Division 2 as the Walterboro, SC native carded a round of 77 to earn the top spot. Lyles birdied the 10th and 12th holes, both of which are par fives, before adding his final birdie on the par-three 16th hole. AJ Lee finished second, overcoming a tough start to shoot 82. Lee made three birdies in his final four holes on the front nine to turn his round in the right direction. He continued his push towards the top of the leaderboard with a birdie on the par-five 10th hole. Chuck Bell finished third with a round of 83. Bell shot 39 on the front nine, highlighted by a birdie on the par-five fifth hole. He added another birdie on the back nine, coming on the par-four 15th hole. Michael Edwards, Bill Windsor, and Matthew York rounded out the top five in the division in a tie for fourth place after all three golfers carded rounds of 84.

Senior Division 2 – Kevin Lyles made it a clean sweep of the weekend as his round of 77 was also enough to earn him the honors in Senior Division 2. After carding a round of 41 on the front nine, Lyles found his groove on the back nine, making three birdies in the first seven holes of the closing stretch. Chuck Bell finished second with a round of 83, followed closely by Bill Windsor in third place with a score of 84. Windsor made two birdies on the day, including one on the par-five closing hole. Kevin Futrell rounded out the division in fourth place with a round of 87.

Division 3 – Joshua Patridge overcame a rocky start to card a round of 80 and win Division 3 on Saturday. Patridge played his final six holes of the front nine in even par, featuring a birdie on the par-four seventh hole to give himself a one-shot lead going to the back nine. Patridge kept it steady, adding a birdie on the par-five 18th hole as an exclamation point to his round. Larry Penfield finished second with a round of 85. Jeffery Johnston and John Benton tied for third place with rounds of 87. Benton actually trailed by just one stroke entering the back nine before sliding back to a tie for third place. Scott Johnson rounded out the top five in the division with a round of 92.

Senior Division 3 – Larry Penfield erased a one-shot deficit going to the back nine, making three pars in his final six holes to shoot 85 and win Saturday in Senior Division 3. Penfield finished two shots ahead of John Benton, who led by one stroke after the front nine. Penfield made his lone birdie of the day on the par-four fourth hole as Benton’s birdie came on the par-five ninth hole. Benton played his first five holes of the back nine in just one over par, before Penfield managed to grab the lead late in the round.

Division 4 – Eighteen holes of golf were not enough to decide a winner in Division 4 as Mike Howell, Andy Dumont, and Charlie Cook found themselves in a playoff after all three players posted rounds of 86. When the dust settled, it was Howell who scored the victory. After carding a round of 43 on the front, Howell made birdie on the par-three 14th hole en route to playing his final five holes in just one over par. Dumont made four pars on the back nine to reach the playoff as his round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-four seventh hole. Cook found his groove on the back nine, making four pars en route to a closing nine score of just five over par, 41. Dave Funkhouser and Russell Loyd, Sr. rounded out the top five in the division with rounds of 91 and 94, respectively.

Senior Division 4 – A playoff was also needed in Senior Division 4, as Mike Howell secured the clean sweep of the weekend, prevailing in the playoff over Charlie Cook after both players carded rounds of 86. Howell plotted his way around the front nine, making a pair of pars on the fourth and fifth holes. After a rocky start to the back nine, Howell settled in with a birdie on the par-three 14th hole, leading to him playing his final five holes in just one over par. Charlie Cook finished runner-up after reaching the playoff. Cook played his best golf on the back nine, making four pars in his final seven holes to climb the leaderboard. Dave Funkhouser finished third with a round of 91, followed by Randy Poplin in fourth place with a score of 98 and Bruce Shively in fifth place with a score of 99.

Division 5 – There was no separation between Matthew Murphy and Barry Crocker after both players carded rounds of 96. In the end, it was Murphy who prevailed in a playoff to secure the victory. Murphy made birdie on the par-four seventh hole before making par on the par-three 11th hole to reach the playoff. Crocker made three pars on the front nine, including two in a row on the eighth and ninth holes. Matt Colman finished third with a round of 97, followed by Travis Shively in fourth with a score of 101. Brendan Daniels rounded out the top five with a score of 107.

Senior Division 5 – While Barry Crocker fell on the wrong side of the playoff in Division 5, his round of 96 was enough to claim the top spot in Senior Division 5. Crocker made four pars on the day, including three on the front nine. Matt Colman finished second in the division with a round of 97, highlighted by a birdie on the par-four 15th hole.
