Tournament Champions
The Amateur Players Tour, Tulsa Chapter, officially kicked off the 2025 season with our annual fall final at Alma Arkansas’s, Eagle Crest Golf Club, on a gorgeous fall morning this past Saturday, October 26th. With a monthly rainfall total of 0.0”, head pro Andrew Dahl and the Eagle Crest staff, had their hands full in keeping the course green as fall temperatures have begun to creep into the area. Forty players from Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas, set their sights on taking the early lead into the coming calendar years respective POY races.
Division 1 had two-time and defending Player of the Year Champion, Andy Proctor as the early odds-on-favorite to take top honors, however, a rejuvenated Josh Linn, (aka, Big Sexxy) fresh off a two-week vacation out west, cruised into Alma and stole the show with an all-around solid day of golf, posting two-over 73 to take home the win. Newcomer Tate Dunlap, a sixteen-year-old high school student, played solid golf in his first APT Tulsa event to take second while Proctor wound up a disappointing third.
Division 2 was one for the Seniors as Owasso, Oklahoma’s Chris Matheny outlasted Michael Foster of Catoosa and Kendall Price of Hackett, Arkansas to win a thrilling three-hole finish for his third career APT victory. Foster held a one stroke lead before making bogey on 16 for a three-way tie at the top. Price made bogey on 17 to fall one back of Foster and Matheny. Matheny then finished off his round with his seventh consecutive par as Foster finished with bogey to finish tied with Price for second.
Division 3 was a back-and-forth affair between Jeffrey Mann of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kirby Rogers of Muldrow, Oklahoma and Rob Luter of Hot Springs, Arkansas. A tight battle in the closing stretch saw Luter double bogey the par three 15th to fall two back while Rogers bogied the 16th and 17th to fall a single shot back as well. Mann made par on the 18th hole to secure his first APT Tulsa victory in a thrilling duel over the closing holes.
Division 4 saw Van Buren, Arkansas native Jay Williams outduel Michael Byrd and defending POY Sean Cook over the final nine holes to pull away for his second career APT Tulsa victory in convincing style. Tied through nine with Byrd and one shot behind Cook, Williams put together a stellar closing nine holes to pull away for a four-stroke victory. Byrd hung on for second while Cook dropped into a tie for third.
Division 5 winner Jerry Crabtree of Van Buren, Arkansas took control early and never looked back as he cruised to a thirteen-stroke win on Saturday. The home field advantage for Crabtree made a huge difference as the tricky greens at Eagle Crest Golf Club took no prisoners with players making this their first trip around the course. Crabtree closed with an outstanding five-over 40 to run away from a tight field through the first nine.
Senior Net winner at Eagle Crest Golf Club on Saturday was Jay Williams whose gross score of 79 was a net 4-under 67, while Jeffrey Mann finished up with a net 68 for second place.
The 3-game winner was Chris Matheny who carded a fabulous +1 over the six par three holes at Eagle Crest. Leighton Mouse, Michael Foster and Sean Cook were one shot back at +2 to tie for second.
This closes the book on APT Tulsa chapters fall schedule. The upcoming 2025 schedule will be released in the next two weeks. The APT DFW Chapter has two events remaining on their fall schedule and the OKC Chapter also has remaining events for those that wish to attend.
