2025 Florida Southwest Wellen Park Golf and Country Club Tournament Results
Tournament Champions
It was another sunny, hot Florida morning at Wellen Park Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida, and 35 of the Florida Southwest members teed it up at our second elevated event of the season! With double the points and prize pool, our guys brought their A-games! This venue required some very precise placement of shots and our guys delivered! Highlights of the day included:
- Division 1: Robert Greene kept up his strong pay with an excellent -2 (34) on the front to take a 1-shot lead over Gage Basiletti, 2 over Dan Madsen, and 3 over Davis Coss! However, on the short par 4 10th hole, Greene would hook one OB and take double, while Basiletti birdied and took the lead. Basiletti would bogey 12 to shrink his lead to just one shot! Greene would birdie 13 to jump back in the lead, but on 15, we again had a two-shot swing and Basiletti would take the lead and hold on for the win! Greene played well but came up a couple short for a second-place finish with Coss and Madsen finishing just a few more shots back.
- Division 2: Allen Moore was back in action, and he wasted no time getting things rolling with 4 birdies on the front with no bogies and card a sizzling -4 (32) and a 4-shot lead over Daren Green! Green birdied the 10th hole to cut into the lead, and on 13, Moore would find his first bogey of the day, cutting the lead to just 2. Moore would double-bogey the 14th putting he and Green in a tie! They would trade birdies on 15 and 16, but Green parred the 18th, and Moore missed a 5-footer to tie giving Green the win. Excellent rounds by both with Green shooting -2 (70) and Moore just one back at -1 (71).
- Division 3: In D3, Mike Steele carded a 39 on the front and jumped out to a 3-shot lead over Rick Kaczmarczyk. Kaczmarczyk would improve by 2 on his front-nine, but it was not enough to catch Steel who tied him on the back and took home the win.
- Division 4: Dan Wojcik and John Moore took the lead after 9 with both shooting 42 and almost the rest of the division just one or 2 shots behind! On the back Andy Halek would get things going and when he birdied 17 and parred 18, he would tie Wojcik with an 85 total. It was off to do a playoff! On the first hole, both players found the fairway, and both would come up just short on their second shots. Wojcik would miss his 8-footer for par while Halek made his 2 -footer and got the win.
- Division 5: Dave Densieski kept up his strong play with a 44 on the front 9 and a one-shot lead over Rick Gill! Densieski would continue his good play and shot a 45 on the back for a very strong 89 total and a 6-shot victory over Rick gill who finished second.
- Senior Net: 14 of our 23 eligible players competed for the senior net title this week. Just like the division contests, our net game had some very impressive scores with Daren Green, Allen Moore, and Mike Steele all carding -5, 67s for a first-place tie! Also shooting under par were Dave Densieski (-2) and Andy Halek (-1). and
A huge thank you goes out to Kristina Wagner and the entire staff at Wellen Park Golf & Country Club for having the course in great shape. We enjoyed hanging out afterward at the Tiki Bar having a few drinks and some food. Everyone was friendly and very helpful!
Our next event is at River Hall in Alva, and it will be on Saturday, August 9.
