Fleetwood Shootout at the Golden Oaks Golf Club
What a glorious fall day it turned out to be, cool temperatures, lots of wind, and 46 players from as far at Massachusetts, South Carolina and points in between. The leaves were in all their glory of brilliant reds and yellows, and they were all over the course. Hence, the golf Committee (i.e. ME) enacted the Model Local Rule F-14, which allows piles of leaves to be treated as ground under repair and players were allowed to take free relief, even if they couldn’t find the ball. Whew, what a relief, no pun intended.
This concluded the 2025 Fall season and we are now into the winter portion where members often take advantage of travelling south where chapters in North and South Carolina continue to battle it out along with some fantastic National Majors to held at Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Kiawah Island, and many others.
On another important note, registration for the National Major to be held at Omni Bedford Springs on April 26 and 27 will open this November 15. THIS ONE ALWAYS SELLS OUT QUICKLY! Don’t hesitate to be the first to register.
Division 1 (Field size 3 players) – George Steinmetz, Malvern, PA, relied on two birdies and 11 pars to shoot a great score of 74 to hold off two new members of the Central PA Chapter besting, Steve Hilt (83), York, PA and Ryan Nittinger (86), New Holland, PA. George took home the trophy and $145.
Division 2 (Field size 5 players) – Congratulations to Rocky Dare, Salem, NJ. Rocky had the low round of the day, shooting a phenomenal score of 1 under par 71 in some tough conditions. Rocky had 2 birdies, 15 pars, and only 1 bogie for the day. Many of you may not know it, but Rocky is a very successful and accomplished champion and Hall of Fame member of the National Reining Horse Association, if you are interested, here’s a link about Rocky’s past wins on the NRHA circuit. Click HERE. Rocky took home the trophy on Saturday along with $145. Jeff Dofflemyer, Hatfield, PA, and Austin Johnson, Pottstown, PA, tied for second with a score of 84.
Division 3 (Field size 16 players) – Division 3 had a crowded field, and some very stiff completion, with only 3 strokes separating 1st through 6th place. In the end, John Friedman (82), Dillsburg, PA, held onto a one stroke victory beating Bill Eissler (83 – $80), Camp Hill, PA, and Daniel Shelbo (83 – $80), Effingham, SC. They were followed by Sean Morris (84), Downingtown, PA, and Cassidy Salvador (84), Harrisburg, PA. Brandon Snyder (85), Dover, PA, was close behind. John took home the trophy and $240.
Division 4 (Field size 11 players) – This one came down to a playoff. Both George Kegerreis (85 – $183), Harrisburg, PA, and Thomas DeYoung (85 – $92), Lebanon, PA, finished the day tied and had a one stroke lead over J.P. Perron (86), Manheim, PA. At the end of the day, George emerged victorious in the playoff to take home the trophy and $183.
Division 5 (Field size 10 players) – Congratulations to Daniel Behmer (86), Millersville, PA, on his first victory, and the lowest round of his Amateur Players Tour career. This is the first time Daniel broke 90 on tour and it couldn’t have come at a better time where he bested the field by 5 strokes. Jeremiah Cassidy (91 – $83), Ephrata, PA, was able to hold on for second place. Congratulations again to Daniel for taking home the trophy and $167.
Senior Net (Field size 17 players) This one was a no brainer about who would eventually take home the trophy in the Senior Net Division with Rocky Dare (net 68), Salem, NJ, shooting a net 4 under par net 68 and leading the field by 5 strokes over a foursome of players finishing with a score of 1 over par net 73. Second place went to Bill Eissler, Camp Hill, PA, J.P. Perron, Manheim, PA, Gregory Gallup, Tully, NY, and Thomas DeYoung, Lebanon, PA. Rocky took home another trophy and added $204 to his winnings.
Open Net (Field size 9 players) Jeremiah Cassidy (net 73), Ephrata, PA, emerged victorious in the Open Net Division over second place winner Cassidy Salvador (net 76), Harrisburg, PA. Jeremiah took home the trophy and $145.
Folds of Honor – Closest to the Pin (Field size 19 players) Amount raised to date: $200
20 players opted in to participate in the Folds of Honor Closest to the Pin contest sponsored by Momentum Hearing Aid Services of Harrisburg. The winner received $25 Sheetz’s gift card and a coffee mug. The winner of the Golden Oaks contest was Brandon Snyder, Dover, PA.
