Tour Stop #2 at Hidden Valley
Results and Recap
Tour stop #2 and a beautiful day at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Norco, CA. Course was in good shape, with the greens a little fuzzy from the recent maintenance 3 weeks earlier but a great challenge with elevations.
It was great to have so many new players and almost all new winners on the tour! So here is the breakdown.
Division 1: We had a whole new field of 10 division 1 golfers to start our season and they came to play! Now new member Berkecem Renda (Westminster, CA) was back and playing well on the front nine and ended with a 77 and third place. New member Joel Clark (Irvine, CA) was playing his first tournament and represented well with a 76 and second place finish. However it was guest Nico Tucker (Ladera Ranch, CA) who shot even on the front nine, but -4 on the back nine to run away with it and great round of 68! He won $175 which includes his tour membership as a guest and now takes the lead in the season points race.
Division 2: We had a good field of 10 players in division 2 with some tour veterans and some brand-new members playing. Bob Davis (La Mirada, CA), Thomas Crowder (Glendale, CA) Both over 60 were playing well and in a tie for the lead at -5 with Bud Vogt (Menifee, CA). Matthew Taylor, (Corona, CA) Transfer from the Oregon chapter was in contention as well. Bud continued his strong play and finished with a 77 and his first win on the APT! Bob hung on down the stretch and finished second with an 80, and Matthew Taylor finished 3rd with an 81.
Division 3: We had some of our familiar faces from 2024 season in the field for the first time in our 2025 season. Ryan Maramis (Corona, CA) William Kamp (Los Angeles, CA) Andrew Kim (Anaheim, CA). However, the rest of the field was made up of new members and guests. Ryan Maramis finished with an 84 and third place, while newcomer Nico Romera (Placentia, CA) played really well and almost won his first time out but settled for second with an 82. Will Kamp battled all last season but never broke through, but in his first tournament of 2025 he shot an 80 and took the trophy and first place!
Division 4: Russell Eustice (Ft Irwin, CA) was ready to try and take the trophy again after his victory in our season opener. However back in the field and trying to better their results were Thomas Meagher (Palm Desert, CA) Marty Rinehart (Upland, CA) and Brandon Geier (Dana Point, CA) all who played well in our first event. This was the largest field of the day and one of our largest fields ever in Division 4. Thomas ended up 4th with a 91, Marty got in the money at third with an 89, and Russell just didn’t have what it took to go back-to-back, but he did shoot an 88 and good enough for second place. The first-time winner on tour after playing many times over the past few years was Brandon Geier with a great round of 84 and took the trophy!
Division 5: We had our familiar group of guys in division 5 but a new member Karim Reyes (Calexico, CA) made his tour debut! Ronak Desai (Irvine, CA) and Kirk Olmos (Moreno Valley, CA) our 2024 player of the year were battling it back and forth. Finally at the end Ronak took his second tour win with a 96 and Kirk came in second with a 99.
Senior Net contest: Bob Davis (La Mirada, CA) took home the win with a net 72 score. Marty Rinehart (Upland, CA) was second with 76.
Open Net Contest: This season we will give a Player of the Year award package in the Open Net contest. Will Kamp (Los Angeles, CA) Bud Vogt (Menifee, CA) Both tied at -3 par. They went to a playoff and Will took the trophy and Bud second. Harry JJ Standberry (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) was third.
