    The Challenge at Stone Canyon
    6/29/2025
    Recap

The Challenge at Stone Canyon is in the books for the Kansas City Chapter! We had a wild day starting with storms early in the morning, leading to a lightening delay in the afternoon, followed by gorgeous weather for the rest of the day! As the tournament name implies, this course always present a solid challenge to our players and today was no different. Congratulations to all of our winners and we look forward to hosting another sold out event at Creekmoor GC in a couple weeks!

Division 1 saw the leaderboard pivot multiple times culminating in a three person playoff between Kory Glasgow, Matt Thorman and Jacob Bruhn! After multiple holes Kory continued his dominant year with another win!

Division 2 was stacked with over 20 players. With a tightly packed leaderboard, Benjamin Bowman showed why consistent play matters. Shooting an impressive 73, his lowest APT round ever, Ben walked away with his first win!

In Division 3 we had 7 players within 4 strokes of each other and at Stone Canyon’s tough finishing holes, anything could happen. First into the clubhouse was David Lapin with an 82, but Curt Admire and Rob Ellis finished strong with 81’s, leading to another playoff. After a single hole Curt took home his first win on APT!

Division 4 was a contest between John Bilek and David Stober. With constant movement throughout the day, each player had a shot to win it all. It all came down to hole 18, with a par by David, John had two options, par and continue to a playoff or birdie for the win! And with that John holed the birdie to card his 3rd with for the season!

Division 5 was another nailbiter that came down to the end. With multiple players within 3 strokes, William Spicer and Ken Mora had to score well on 18. But as fate would have it, William pulled out the better score and forced another playoff, our 3rd of the day! Stretching into sundown, it only took one hole for William to pull out another win on APT!

For our Senior Net competition, it looked to be a contest between Todd Gurss and Curt Admire. Curt had a few missteps on the back 9 that gave Todd the room to pull ahead with just a few holes remaining. Finishing strong Todd solidified the win with an impressive -3 net score!
