Tournament Champions
Amateur Players Tour – Minneapolis Chapter
Willingers GC Recap | Sunday, July 13, 2025
The Minneapolis chapter returned to action this past weekend at Willingers Golf Club, one of the toughest stops on the APT schedule. Known for its demanding layout, elevation changes, and brutally unforgiving rough, Willingers once again delivered a true test of tournament golf. With temps in the 80s, thick humidity, and wildfire haze lingering in the sky, the conditions felt more like survival than competition — but that didn’t stop a handful of players from rising to the occasion.
Division 1 – Mitch Myers (+7, 79)
With only two players battling it out in D1, it was less of a shootout and more of a showdown. Mitch Myers (Argenta, IL) answered the bell in every way, carding a gritty 79 to secure the win by nine shots. It wasn’t flashy, but it was clinical — exactly what Willingers demands. On a day where big numbers lurked at every turn, Mitch stayed mentally locked in, navigating the undulating greens and tight tee shots like a seasoned pro. It’s his first Minneapolis win of the season — and with scoring like that at Willingers, it probably won’t be his last.
Division 2 – Brad Wilczynski (+10, 82)
One event. One win. Not a bad start for new APT Minneapolis member Brad Wilczynski (Hanover, MN), who made an instant impact in his debut. Brad’s 82 (+10) stood tall in Division 2, with the rest of the field trailing by double digits. He managed the course like a veteran, avoiding the disaster holes that tripped up so many others. The local knowledge might be limited, but the nerves were clearly in check. Look out — this guy just joined the tour, and he’s already changing the Division 2 conversation.
Division 3 – Donald Scott (+12, 84)
Make it another win for Donald Scott (Blaine, MN), who continues to build a strong case as one of the most consistent players in the Minneapolis field. His 84 (+12) was more than enough to take the D3 title — a round highlighted by resilience, patience, and a smooth closing stretch. But Scott wasn’t done. His gross performance also translated to net gold, as he claimed the Senior Net title with a Net Even 72. Winning one division at Willingers is impressive — but pulling the double crown? That’s dominance.
Division 4 – Michael Tidd (+20, 92)
When the scores are high and the field gets tight, sometimes it’s all about hanging on. That’s exactly what Michael Tidd (Blaine, MN) did Sunday, carding a 92 (+20) to hold off M. Wenner by nine shots. It wasn’t Tidd’s cleanest round of the season, but it was one of his toughest. Tidd leaned on short game saves and steady putting to weather the course’s hardest holes, and his reward was his second win of the season in D4. With momentum building, he’s quickly becoming a name to watch on any leaderboard.
Division 5 – Albert Tordoff, Jr. (+23, 95)
Division 5 featured a tight race down the stretch, but in the end, it was A. Tordoff, Jr. (Alden, IA) who edged out the field with a 95 (+23) to take home the trophy. One shot separated Tordoff and D. Bartlett, with every stroke counting in the final few holes. Tordoff’s ability to limit the damage and finish strong gave him just enough breathing room to capture the win. After some close calls this season, this one had to feel sweet.
Senior Net – Donald Scott (Net Even 72)
Donald Scott added to his D3 victory with a cool and calculated Net 72, securing the Senior Net title. A clean back nine and steady play throughout the day made him the only senior golfer to shoot net par — a performance that reflects just how dialed in Scott has been across the board. This was a wire-to-wire kind of day for him.
