    On Monday, May 12th, the New Jersey chapter of the Amateur Players Tour teed off its second event of the season at a new addition to the rotation – Hawk Pointe Golf Club. Seventy-two players came out ready to compete, and they were met with perfect conditions: sunshine, light winds, and a beautifully maintained course primed for tournament play. 

    From start to finish, Hawk Pointe delivered. Its scenic layout offered the ideal balance of challenge and reward, creating exciting competition across all divisions. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and it’s clear that Hawk Pointe has earned its place as a future staple on the New Jersey schedule—one that players of all skill levels can look forward to for years to come. 

    In Division 1, Blake Kocsis came out firing, opening his round with seven straight pars to set the pace early. He made the turn at +3 and faced a tougher test on the back nine, but held steady down the stretch. With a final score of 78 (+6), Blake emerged as the Division 1 Champion at Hawk Pointe, securing a well-earned victory 

    In Division 2, Rocky Dare continued his winning ways, following up his Division 2 title at the APT Major at Bedford Springs with another impressive performance. Rocky fired a solid 4-over-par 76, securing a 2-shot victory and a return to the winner’s circle.Hot on his heels were John Sanginari and John Willadsen, both of whom have been trending upward and finished just two strokes back, sharing second place with matching rounds of 78 (+6). Bobby Gorcica also put together a strong showing, claiming fourth place with a 79(+7), just three shots off the lead in a tightly contested Division 2 battle. 

    In Division 3, Richard Knox is officially on a roll, picking up his second straight victory on the New Jersey Amateur Players Tour. In a competitive field of 26 players, Richard stayed sharp and steady, posting a 77 (+5) to take home the title of The Pointe Classic Champion. Close behind was Brian Amabile, who carded three birdies enroute to a solid 80 (+8), securing a solo second-place finish. Cassidy Salvador and Steve Stiles followed with matching rounds of 82 (+10) to share third place honors. Rounding out the prize pool were Daniel Shelbo and Nick Amabile, who each turned in rounds of 83 (+11) to finish in a tie for fifth

    In Division 4, In a 13-player Division 4 field, it was J.P. Perron who rose to the top, holding off the competition to claim the title of Division 4 Pointe Classic Champion with a solid round of 85 (+13). Right on his heels were Illyas Sarwari and David Neder, who both came up just two shots short, each carding 87 (+15) to finish in a tie for second place and share the 2nd and 3rd place prize pool in a tightly contested finish. 

    In Division 5, Traveling in from the Metro New York Chapter, Kamil Kyczko came ready to compete—and he delivered. With a strong round of 91 (+19), Kamil secured the win and took the Division 5 Pointe Classic Champion title (and the hardware) back to New York. The battle for second was a close one between Paul Taylor and Frank Romano. Paul trailed Frank by a shot at the turn, but mounted a charge on the back nine with three birdies. Despite a few stumbles from Frank down the stretch, it wasn’t quite enough—both players finished tied with rounds of 95 (+23), sharing second place honors and the prize pool

    In Open Net: The Open Net competition came down to a tight battle between Nicholas Lazarchuck (D3) and Illyas Sarwari (D4), with both players posting impressive Net Scores of 69 (-3). The tiebreaker came down to the back nine, where Illyas edged out Nicholas to take home the Open Net Champion trophyMs. La Fountain (D4) delivered a strong performance to claim third place with a Net 70 (-2), while Brian Amabile (D3) rounded out the cut line in fourth place with a Net Score of 71 (-1)

    In Senior Net: J.P. Perron was the standout performer of the day, not only capturing his Division 4 title but also claiming the Senior Net Champion honors with a stellar Net Score of 69 (-3). David Neder finished solo second with a solid Net 71 (-1), while Rocky Dare, Richard Guillod, and Dan Sadler all shared third place, each carding Net 72 (E). Rounding out the Senior Net prize pool were James Miller and Kevin Wilson, who tied for sixth place with matching scores of Net 73 (+1).

    We’re back in action on Sunday, May 18th with a 56-player field ready to take on the challenge. Keep a close eye on the leaderboard—this one’s shaping up to be a battle!
