It was close to a perfect day for the Amateur Players Tour to take on Rose Creek Country Club. Colton Conrady, Head Pro, and all of the staff at Rose Creek has the course in great shape. It still plays tough with the water and native areas around the course, but we had some outstanding performances by our winners. I am already planning a trip back to Rose Creek next year.

The day even had some fireworks, with a hole in 1 on hole #13 by Josh Hardin. Josh plays in D4, he came to the 13th hole playing 145 yards. He hit a 9 iron to about 1 foot past the hole before it ended up in the hole. It is unfortunate that #13 is situated in such a way that you can’t see the ball going in the hole. Josh may not have seen the ball go in, but it is just as big a thrill to find it in the hole once you get there. Congratulations Josh!
D1- After playing for the last 3 seasons and coming close but not quite getting it done. Corey Cupp was a 1st time winner and well deserving with a 1 over 73. Corey got it done under pressure, because it was never more than a 2 strokes difference for 18 holes. Robby Kalow finished 2nd with a round of 2 over 74 , and Colin New from Rogers Arkansas fell back on the back 9 after being 1 back at the turn to finish in 3rd with a 76. It was a great moment for Corey as the players in the room congratulated him while getting his 1st trophy. Way to go Corey.
D2- As a player myself in D2, I would like to say that it was a close race, but from the very beginning William Walton took hold of the tournament by over powering the Rose Creek layout. With birdies on his 1st 2 holes, he started on 18, he left a 3rd straight birdie an inch short. William had 3 birdies against 2 bogeys on the front 9 to finish 1 under. He had 3 more birdies on the back 9 and finished 1 over for an even par round. William was under par for 17 holes until a finishing bogey closed out his day. By saying it wasn’t a close race, I don’t want to overlook Jordan Wesley. Jordan played a very good round finishing with a 2 over 74. Jordan is on a mission to be the only back to back winner of the Player of Year, being sponsored this year by Rhino Roofing.
D3- A playoff decided the winner between Michael Foster and Jeff Snider in this division. This contest was clearly a tale of 2 9’s. Jeff and Michael started on the 14th hole and their first 9 holes were played in 42 and 44 respectively. Randy Miller and Shawn Lewis both played those holes in 43 shots. The last 9 holes were a different story for Michael, Jeff, and Stephen. Michael Foster, the playoff winner played the last 9 in 2 over, 37. Jeff and Stephen played their last 9 in even par 35. Stephen Pilant had too much to make up, but it brought him back to the finish 3rd. Michael and Jeff went out to the first hole for sudden death playoff. Michael came back as the winner. Jeff didn’t finish the day empty handed as he beat Michael in the Senior Net contest by 1. Jeff got a trophy to take home as well as Michael.
D4- Mike Adcock played his 1st 9 holes in 42, while Josh Hardin played his 1st 9 in 43. Josh started on #12 and as mentioned above his 2nd hole of the day was a hole in 1 from 145 yards out. Connor Boyd played the 1st 9 in 45 and finished the last 9 in 44 to shoot a 89 to finish in a tie for 2nd place. Josh faded on the last 9 playing in 46 to finish tied with Connor in 2nd place. After a 44 on the last 9, Mike was able to lean on his 1st 9 advantage to take home the win. Mike finished with a 14 over 86. This was Mike’s 2nd win in his first season. He won the first time in D5, so this was his first in D4. However Mike has 3 other wins in the senior net contest on the year, so his trophy take home so far this year is 5.
D5- A 2nd playoff on the day is what determined the winner in D5. After the 1st 9 holes eventual winner, Jacob Spencer took the lead with a 43. This gave him a lead of 1 over Steven Ellis. Steven was 1 back going to #10, his last hole of the day. He made a par 4 on the hole and it came down to Jacob, going to #9 his last of the day. Jacob bogeyed the tough par to end up in a tie for the lead. Steven and Jacob went out to #10 for a sudden death playoff in which Jacob came back with the win. After being recruited to play by his friend Corey Cupp, Jacob came out for the 1st time to get a victory along with Corey. It was a great day for the two friends.
