Tournament Champions
The Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held its Fall Finale on Sunday, November 3rd at Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, TN. It was the last event of the 2024 calendar year. The weather was fantastic for the first weekend of November with temperatures in the high 70s and plenty of sun. The wind made an appearance and had an effect on all players during the round. 80 players were in the field competing for more than $4,800 in tournament prizes and side game monies.
Division 1
Murfreesboro’s Craig Young played steady all round and posts +1 73 to win by four strokes. Braxton Floyd from Dalton, GA and Alexander Schroettinger from Murfreesboro finished in a second-place tie at +5 77.
Division 2
Micheal Lynn from Murfreesboro wins by two strokes over Kevin German, who also hails from Murfreesboro. Lynn started out slow on the outward nine, but was able to right-the-ship on the inward half with two birdies to finish at +4 76. German played consistently to post +6 78. Pegram’s Caleb Cart takes the 3rd place prize with his round of +7 79. In a tie for 4th, Chapel Hill’s Tim Ewing and Walter Hill’s Chris Randolph finished at +9 81.
Division 3
Division 3 required a playoff to decide a champion. Nashville’ Aaron Smith and Murfreesboro’s Mike Burnett finished their respective rounds at +11 83 and tying for the top spot. The duo heads back to the course for the playoff where Mike Burnett won the honor of teeing off first and took advantage on the 1st hole and capture the win. In a two-way tie for 3rd place were Charlotte’s Madison Murphy and Brentwood’s James Newkirk. Both players were tied with the leaders heading to the 18th tee. Both players finished their round with bogey to fall out of the playoff.
Division 4
Nolensville’s Wade Williams captures the win by three strokes over Lebanon’s Tosh Manos and Nashville’s Jamal Browning. Williams started off hot as a firecracker on his front 9, posting +3 39 and held on the back nine to finish at +13 85. Manos and Browning both finish the day at +16 88 to split the 2nd and 3rd place prizes.
Division 5
Old Hickory’s Tyler Laney notches his 1st victory on tour with a three-stroke win over Charlotte’s Jimmy Murphy. Laney finished the day at +21 93 while Murphy finished at +24 96.
Open Net
Division 2’s Micheal Lynn and Division 3’s Madison Murphy finished tied at-the-top, both posted NET rounds of -2 70. The 1st and 2nd place prizes were split between both players with Lynn taking home the trophy in the scorecard playoff. Division 2’s Kevin German posts NET par 72 to claim the 3rd place prize.
Senior Net
Division 4’s Wade Williams posts NET -1 71 to capture 1st place. Division 3’s James Newkirk and Division 5’s Mark Williams finished at NET +3 75 to split the 2nd and 3rd place prizes.
