New Year’s Bash Tournament @ Desert Willow, Firecliff Course

    Results & Recap for December 29, 2025

Tour Stop #6, and the 3rd event of the newly launched Desert Section, carried the momentum into the New Year as players teed it up under near postcard-perfect conditions. Desert Willow Golf Resort’s Firecliff Course lived up to its top-ranked reputation, offering hard and fast greens, flawless fairways, and a light breeze on a sunny 70-degree day that welcomed golfers from across the country.

    Let’s get to the action…

Division 1: The spotlight was on two new members ready to prove themselves. Cameron Winslow (Desert Hot Springs, CA) wasted no time making a name on tour. Steady all day and unfazed by Firecliff’s difficult approach shots, Winslow sealed the victory with a birdie on 18, finishing 2 over 74, an excellent debut and his first APT win. Winslow also dialed in his irons, taking home Closest to the Pin honors on Hole 14, adding to an impressive first showing. Will McMahon (Santee, CA) showed resolve after a slow start. Fighting back late, including a birdie on 16, McMahon closed strong to post a 79 and secure second place in his first event.

Division 2: A cross chapter showdown unfolded as Bill McKiegan (Cave Creek, AZ), visiting from the Arizona chapter, showed why he is a threat everywhere he tees it up. His 75 featured four birdies, including clutch ones on 15 and 17 to pull away late and take the top spot. Adding to his strong round, Bill also earned Closest to the Pin on Hole 3 coming to rest just 3 feet 11 inches from the flag, while Vu Le (Garden Grove, CA) claimed Closest to the Pin on Hole 8. Trying to repeat his Eagle Falls success, Evan Leonard (Lake Forest, CA) stayed in the hunt but could not catch fire, carding a 79 for second. Despite unfamiliar greens, Adolfo Perez traveled from Rowlett, TX and posted an 82 to finish in third place.

Division 3: The most dramatic finish of the day belonged to Division 3. Kevin Seto (Temecula, CA) was in command nearly the entire round, poised for victory until late trouble on 17 and 18 reopened the door. Right behind him, Mario Uribe (Bloomington, CA) kept applying pressure and had a birdie putt on 18 to win outright, but it slid just past. Their matching 82s sent them to the first tee playoff, where Uribe clinched it with a composed par to earn the title. Uribe’s accurate iron play was also showcased earlier when he stuck his tee shot on Hole 17 to just 2 feet 5 inches for Closest to the Pin, helping set the tone for his eventual victory. A tight race behind them saw Andrew Kim (Buena Park, CA) and travel warrior Kristian Alexander (Seattle, WA) tied for third at 84.

Division 4: With the winners of the past five tournaments not in the field, there was bound to be a new face on the podium. Firecliff demanded precision, and Brad Forsyth (Alta Loma, CA) delivered just enough of it, his 86 earned first place and his first win of the season. Also in the division, Tommy Weatherby (Sun City, CA) closed out his round with an impressive eagle on 18, adding a strong finish to his day. Thomas Meagher (Palm Desert, CA) was positioned for a share of the lead until an unfortunate triple bogey on 18 dropped him back to 89, still good for second.

Division 5: It was a day of introductions as Riley Thornbrugh (Valencia, CA) competed in his first APT event, but the top spot belonged to Osman Atiq (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) whose steady play earned him the win with a 96 on a demanding layout. Osman went out with an early lead that included a birdie on hole 6, and by the turn he held a five-shot advantage. Riley fought his way through the back nine to close the gap and finished with a 99, only three shots behind, but Osman’s early cushion held strong and carried him to the victory.
