Results and Recap for Dec 6th and 7th, 2025
Tour Stop #3 and #4! The kickoff to our Desert Section Swing and the launch of our Desert Section season all happened this past weekend as golfers from Canada, Seattle, New England Chapter and SoCal all merged on some great golf courses for a battle. The weather was absolutely perfect with 74 and 75 degrees and NO Wind! Smooth greens, great bunkers and enjoyable golf. Trilogy on Saturday and Eagle Falls on Sunday.
Let’s get to the action…
Division 1: Riley Kline (San Dimas, CA) Juan Martinez (Perris, CA), John Clough (La Quinta, CA) New member on the tour and Satyajeet Singh (San Diego, CA) were all battling to take the title. Trilogy is John’s home course, and he was hoping to take advantage. Did he ever as he holed out on #4 for eagle to go to -1, and finished the front nine at even par. He finished with a few bogeys and a birdie on 17 to be the leader in the clubhouse at 75. Riley Kline also was even at the turn and managed to almost hole out on 18 for eagle, but settled for tap in birdie and round of 74. This is Riley’s first win on the 2026 season as he climbs up the point standings. Congrats to John for second and a CTP and to Singh for third.
ON Sunday it was just a 2 man race as Angel Sotelo was injured on Saturday and had to withdraw leaving Greg Delgado (Corona, CA) and Juan Martinez (Perris, CA) in the field for D1. It was close until hole 13 when Juan made birdie and birdied 18 to separate himself by a couple shots to win D1 on a difficult Eagle Falls course and a 78.
Division 2: The old veteran and Tour Director Troy Shedeed (Murrieta, CA) was in the field again after a 2 year pause while he has run the tour. Also in the D2 field new member Ryan Ballard (Irvine, CA), Cameron Rubel (Alta Loma, CA), and Jonathan Cavotta (Rancho Mission Veijo, CA) All 4 were paired together and came out firing. Ryan stuck it to 2 ft and Cameron to 6ft to both go birdie, birdie, on hole 1. The old guy hooked it left off the tee to go OB and ended up taking a 6. Cameron went back-to-back birdies on the back nine and suddenly had the lead. Pressure might have gotten to him as he preceded to triple bogey the next hole and suddenly all three players were in a tie and the old guy was now only 1 back after making a string of pars. Jonathan was up 2 as we headed to the par 5 17th and he tried to reach it in 2 but faded it into the water on the right and took a 6. We headed to 18 tied, and Cameron pulled his tee shot left a little, however Jonathan didn’t catch his tee shot correct and it hit and bounced into the water, he scrambled to make 7, the old guy missed a short easy stupid putt to take a 6 and Cameron Rubel made par to shoot 77 and win by 2 over Ryan, Jonathan, and Troy all finished at 79. It was a fun battle.
Eagle falls saw Evan Leonard (Lake Forest, CA) and new D2 player cruise to a 76 on a tough course and out battled Troy Shedeed (Murrieta, CA) who shot an 81 for second and the rest of the D2 players. No drama on this one, Evan dominated the course and finished with 3 birdies and a great round.
Division 3: Players vied for the top spots in several divisions, including division 3. Kristian Alexander (Seattle, WA) was joining us and entered the weekend on a 2 tournament win streak. Jayson Huett (Los Alamitos, CA) Pala Mesa champion was back for more and a strong field of other solid contenders. Blake Moorman (Fallbrook, CA) current season points leader, was not in the field as he was running the tournament. So how would it play out? Well Kristian didn’t give anyone a chance on this day as he shot his lowest round ever and a D1 score of 3 over 75 to take first place again. Jayson Huett battled to take second with an 80. Kiran Reina (Alta Dena, CA) and Aaron Steinberg (Palm Desert, CA) both tied for third with 81.
Eagle Falls saw many of the same players battle again, but today Blake Moorman (Fallbrook, CA) season points leader was in the field. Would Kristian Alexander (Seattle, WA) go 4 for 4 and back up his 75 with another great round? Tim Rohrer (San Diego, CA) was out strong to start and was in contention and the lead most of the round. Blake was only 6 over through 14 holes and holding a 3 shot lead. Aaron Steinberg (Palm Desert, CA) was back playing another great round. Blake found some trouble on hole 17 and took triple bogey and then took double bogey on 18 to finish at +12, but Kristian birdied 18 to finish at +11, and Aaron had a putt to win it on 18 but ended up in a tie at +11. Tim Rohrer was up 1 with hole 18 left but found some trouble and ended up with a double bogey to finish in a tie for third with Blake. Kristan and Aaron went into a playoff and you guessed it Kristian took both events and another victory with an 83.
Division 4: Kurt Odegard (Yorba Linda, CA) Saul Armendariz (Granada Hills, CA) David Cavanaugh (San Bernadino, CA) along with Bilal Jordan (Nashua, NH) joining us from the New England chapter were all strong contenders. David was first to post with his best round on our tour with an 83! Most tournaments he takes home the trophy with an 83, Unfortunately for David, today Saul and Kirk were on fire and both finished with 8 over 80 and had to go to a playoff to determine the winner. Kirk ended up out dueling Saul in the playoff. David took third and Marty Rhinehart (Upland, CA) was fourth.
Eagle Falls was going to be a new test and most of the players were back in the field. Once again Kurt and Saul were both playing well again. Bummer for Saul was he took triple on the final hole and ended up with an 89 good enough for second. Once again Kurt Odegard stayed strong and shot an 83 to go back to back in division 4.
Division 5: Ray Van Holland (Seal Beach, CA) was back for his second event of the season, along with new member Michael Loehnig (Lake Elsinore, CA) in division 5. Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) last season’s player of the year was ready to give the boys a run. Ray started out a bit rough with 4 double bogeys in his first 5 holes but then he found his groove gathering multiple pars and a birdie. Michael in his first event with us did really well and with birdies on 12 and 18, however he took 2 triple bogeys on 8 and 9, to finish at 89. Eddy also was shooting a great round, but without any birdies his final score of 90 put him in third place, leaving Ray with the victory with an 88!
Eagle Falls was a small field as only Ray Van Holland and Osman Atiq (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) were able to make the event. Both Osman and Ray struggled more than they did at Trilogy on a much tougher course and Ray ended up shooting a score of 100 to take the victory on day 2 as well. Ray is now the season Points leader in Division 5 with his 2 victories.
