Tournament Champions
On July 12, 38 players teed off at the difficult Waterlefe Golf & River Club in Bradenton. Midway through the round, we were treated to a spectacular lightning show and had a short delay while the storm passed through. Highlights of the day included:
- Division 1: On the front nine, Gage Basiletti fired a one-over 37 and took a 2-shot lead over Chase Bertrand into the back nine. Bertrand was able to shoot even par on the back and gain ground, but Basiletti was able to card a second 37 on the back to take home the 1-shot win. Bertrand finished solo second.
- Division 2: D2 started out very close on the front-9 with Chason Rockymore (Rocky) taking a 2-shot lead over Daren Green, Chris Scott, and Aystin Martinez with Frank Gomes one behind them. On the back-9, Rocky fired an impressive -1 (35) to finish at even par for the day and the win. Green was able to card a 41 on the back to take second place by one over Martinez.
- Division 3: This one was also very tight on the front nine with Sam Baichoo and Rick Kaczmarczyk carding 41s and Marcus Clifford just one shot behind. Baichoo improved by 2 on the back finishing with an 80 and the win over Kaczmarczyk.
- Division 4: This division saw Manuel Collins fire a 7 over 43 on the front nine to take a 3-shot lead over Dan Wojcik with Mike Bushee just a couple more back. Collins would shoot 47 on the back and would take a 2-shot win over John Moore who turned it around on the back, firing a 42.
- Division 5: The front nine had Greg Gastfield firing a 47 and taking a 2-shot lead over Mike Abbott and 5 over Dave Densieski and Jimmy Bramlett. On the back nine, Densieski would turn it around and not only cover the 5-shot deficit, but finish 2 ahead of Gastfield for the win.
- Senior Net: 15 out of the 24 eligible players participated in the Senior Net game, and Sam Baichoo bested everyone with a -2! Both Manuel Collins and Mike Bushee finished with even par 72s and tied for second!
A huge thank you goes out to Mark Trotter and the entire staff at Waterlefe Golf & River Club for having the course in excellent condition and working with us during the weather delay. We thoroughly enjoyed the day!
Our next event is at Calusa Country Club in Bradenton, and it will be on Sunday, July 27. Remember, the more players we get, the bigger the payouts! Sign up now for your spot to play! Registration closes on July 20!
