The Season Opener @ The Golf Club of California

    Results and Recap

And the 2025 Season has begun!  Beautiful day at the Golf Club of California in Fallbrook, CA.  Course was in good shape, with the greens a little fuzzy from the recent maintenance 3 weeks earlier but a great challenge, with the summit on holes 6, 7 and 8.

It was great to have so many new players and almost all new winner on the tour! So here is the breakdown.

Division 1: We had a whole new field of division 1 golfers to start our season and they came to play!  Former Division 2 winners Vinnie O’Brien and Duke Perezedenti were ready to make a mark on Division 1.   Former member from 2022 Juan Martinez was back along with new our guest Berky Renda (Westminster, CA) but it was Liam Pecina (Brea, CA) who took the trophy with a nice round of 74.  Berky was second with a 76.

Division 2:  We had a brand-new field of Division 2 players.  Matt Taylor (Corona, CA) played with the Oregon chapter last year.  New members Ron Offringa (Alta Loma, CA) Kasey Dismuke (Yorba Linda, CA) and Blake Moorman (Fallbrook, CA) were all trying to take out the only familiar face in division 2, Chapter Owner Troy Shedeed (Temecula, CA) None of them played up to their capabilities, and they let the rusty chapter owner win it with an electric 84! LOL I expect better things from these guys as the season moves forward.

Division 3: Familiar faces Tim Rohrer (San Diego, CA) and Darren Kavapalu (Bellflower, CA) from out 2024 season were playing well and in contention to take home the trophy.  However first out and back from his one tournament in 2024 was member Omar Torres (Oceanside, CA) who was playing great golf with 4 birdies and posted an 81 for the boys to shoot at!  None of them ended up being able to match Omar and he took the trophy and first win on the APT.  Tim and Darren finished 2nd and 3rd. Nice playing Omar!

Division 4:  2024 Player of the year Marty Rinehart (Upland, CA) was back to defend.  Contender Thomas Meagher (Palm Desert, CA) was back in the field and new SoCal member transfer from the Virginia Capitol Chapter Russell Eustice (Ft Irwin, CA) was ready to compete!  Thomas posted a 91 and gave them a score to shoot at and Russell responded with a round of 89 and took home first place.  Russell goes back-to-back, as last week we won first in the Las Vegas chapter event.  Russell is ready to give the boys a challenge for player of the year in 2025! Marty finished tied for third.

Division 5: The top division 5 players from 2024 season were back to get a lead in the 2025 POY race.  Tommy Weatherby (Sun City, CA) Kirk Olmos (Moreno Valley, CA) and Dennis McZeal (Fontana, CA) were all in the group along with Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) However it was Tyler Ruzi (Monterrey, CA) member the last few years on our tour that shot a 91 and took the win in Division 5. Eddy Moore was second.

Senior Net contest: Thomas Meagher (Palm Desert, CA) edged out Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) with a net score of 74 and Eddy a 76 to take the trophy in Senior Net.

Open Net Contest: This season we will give a Player of the Year award package in the Open Net contest.  Liam Pecina (Brea, CA) with his 74 in division 1 gave him a net score of 72 and first place for the Open Net contest.  Russell Eustice (Ft. Irwin, CA) had a net 74 to finish second.

    CTP winners:

    Liam Pecina 7ft

    Matt Taylor 2ft

    Matt Taylor 5ft

    Troy Shedeed 25ft

Congratulations to all of our winners!
