Competitors on the Upstate Amateur Players Tour had to negotiate rainy and wet conditions during the tournament held Saturday at Connestee Falls in Brevard, NC. Despite the weather, the golfers enjoyed the afternoon of competition, battling for over $5,000 in cash and VISA gift card prizes.

The Upstate Amateur Players Tour travels the Upstate of South Carolina, along with portions of North Carolina and Georgia, offering golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in one of the ten different divisions. The tour is designed by the players, for the players, as tour officials create a world-class environment filled with fun and competition during each tournament.

Regarded as Brevard’s premier mountain course, Connestee Falls is an 18-hole championship layout designed by George Cobb. Situated at more than 3,200 feet above sea level, Connestee Falls provides a memorable experience for golfers of all skill levels.

On Saturday, the semi-private club hosted the Upstate Amateur Players Tour that provides great competition for all golfers with five different divisions, including senior divisions as well. Ten winners were crowned following the rounds on Saturday afternoon.

Here’s a breakdown of the results by division:

Division 1 – Mike Hartin used three birdies in a five-hole stretch on the back nine to card a round of 74 and win Division 1 on Saturday. Hartin took advantage of the par-four 12th hole before finding two more birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. Carlos Santana finished runner-up with a round of 75, which included two birdies, including one on the par-five seventh hole as he shot just one over par on the front. John Masotti fired a round of 76 to finish third. He got off to a steady start on the day, making two birdies on the front nine to begin his round with an even par 36. Jackson Hill’s round started in ideal fashion, eagling the par-five second hole as he shot 77 and finished fourth. Perry Hartin rounded out the top five in the division with a score of 78.

Senior Division 1 – Dan Constantino’s front nine featured eight pars, laying the groundwork for the rest of the day as the Greer, SC native claimed the top spot with a round of 81 in Senior Division 1. Constantino pared all but one hole on the front nine, securing a two stroke victory over Charles Hartley – who shot 83 to finish in second place.

Division 2 – Bobby Ream outlasted a crowded field of challengers, carding an even par round of 72 to win Division 2. Ream played the front nine in one under par, birding the par-four sixth hole. His back nine included a birdie on the par-four 14th hole. Zack Boyd finished second with a round of 74, just two shots off the pace. Boyd played the front nine in even par, birding the par-three fifth hole. Oliver Mauntel shot 76 to finish third, but shared the lead with Ream at the turn, as Mauntel also shot one under par on the front nine. Mauntel birdied the par-four first and par-five seventh holes during his round. Dalton Lawing finished fourth with a round of 77, followed by JB Anderson, who fired a 79 to finish fifth.
