    The Upstate Amatuer Players Tour made its annual trip to one of the most respected courses in the area on Monday, traveling to Flat Rock, NC for a tournament at Kenmure Country Club.  

    Monday, golfers took on the Joe Lee-designed course at Kenmure Country Club, Western North Carolina’s premier gated golf community in Flat Rock. Opened in 1982, the private course offers a distinctive experience on each of its 18 holes, blending challenging play with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Known for its scenic beauty and well-manicured layout, Kenmure remains one of the region’s top-rated golf destinations. 

    The Upstate Amateur Players Tour travels the Upstate of South Carolina, along with portions of North Carolina and Georgia, offering golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in one of 10 different divisions. The tournaments feature cash and VISA gift card prizes for each division, along with an optional cash skins game each week.  

    Here’s a breakdown of the results from Monday’s tournament by division: 

    Division 1 – Dylan Lancaster’s stellar round of golf paid off as he prevailed in a playoff over Jody Clary as both golfers carded rounds of 71 on Monday. Lancaster played the front nine in one under par, including eight pars and a birdie. He remained bogey-free, and moved to three under with two birdies in a three-hole stretch on the back nine. His only blemish on the card came on the par-four 17th hole.  

    Clary also shot 71, birding the last two holes of the front nine to shoot 34 going out. Clary added his final birdie on the par-four 17th hole, before falling in the playoff to the runner-up position.  

    Christopher White and Jackson Hill tied for third place with rounds of 74. White made four birdies on the day, including two in a row on the back nine. Hill made three front nine birdies to shoot an even par, 36, on the front.  

    Jimmy Popp rounded out the top five with a round of 75.  

    Senior Division 1 – Jimmy Popp carded a round of 75 to take home the top honors in Senior Division 1 on Monday. Popp’s round included two birdies and 12 pars. He posted a round of 37, just one over par on the back nine, aided by a birdie on the par-five 13th hole.  

    Bryan Moody finished runner-up with a round of 77. Moody made two birdies on the day, including one on the par-five second hole. Greg Moore rounded out the division in third place with a round of 81.  

    Division 2 – Travis Wartluft outlasted a crowded field of 24 challengers in Division 2 on Monday, firing a round of 73 to win by two strokes. The Lake Wylie, SC native made two birdies on the front nine as he shot two under par, 34. He made three birdies in the first six holes of the back nine, securing his victory by two.  

    Zack Boyd and Dean Crouch finished second with rounds of 75. Boyd played the front nine in even par, before making his second birdie of the day on the par-four 15th hole. Crouch played the back nine in just 37, including two birdies.  

    Mark Ballew finished fourth with a round of 76, followed by John Wayne Parrish in fifth with a score of 78. 

    Senior Division 2 – Travis Wartluft made it a clean sweep of the weekend, also earning the top spot in Senior Division 2 with his round of 73. Wartluft’s round included five birdies, including two in a row on the front nine on the fourth and fifth holes as he shot two under par on the front nine.  

    Dean Crouch finished runner-up, two strokes behind with a round of 75. Crouch’s steady day included seven pars on the front nine and two birdies on the back. Mark Ballew finished third with a round of 76. Ballew played the back nine in even par, highlighted by a birdie on the par-four 12th hole.  

    John Wayne Parrish used two back nine birdies to climb the leaderboard to fourth place, posting a round of 78. Parrish birdied the 11th and 13th holes to highlight his round. Jeff Ferguson finished fifth with a round of 79. 

    Division 3 – Matthew Tokunaga’s up-and-down day paid off in the end, as he carded a round of 80 to win Division 3. Tokunaga made three birdies on the day, including two on the back nine as he shot 38 on the closing stretch.  

    Weston Brown and Michael Shirley finished tied for second place with rounds of 82. Brown made three birdies on the front nine, including two in a row on the seventh and eighth holes to card an even par round of 36 on the front. Shirley played his best golf on the front nine, shooting 38 with a birdie on the par-five second hole.  

    Steven Beckstead and Ronnie Strange rounded out the top five in the division in a tie for fourth place with rounds of 83. 

    Senior Division 3 – Eighteen holes of golf proved not to be enough, as Ronnie Strange and Steven Beckstead tied for the top spot with rounds of 83. In the end, it was Strange who emerged victorious in the playoff.  

    Strange carded a round of 39 on the front nine, including a birdie on the par-five eighth hole. He also took advantage of the par-four 12th hole, making birdie. Beckstead finished second as his steady round included 10 pars.  

    Sonny Smith finished third with a round of 86, followed by Andy Parker in fourth place with a score of 87. Michael Foster completed the top five in the division with a round of 88.  

    Division 4 – Frank Felsburg plotted his way around Kenmure, recording 12 pars en route to a round of 82. Felsburg pared five of his last six holes on the front nine, carding a round of 41 on the front. The Flat Rock, NC native cleared the field by five shots.  

    Calvin Carter finished second, posting a round of 87. Carter pared four of his final holes on the front nine before making five pars on the back nine. Billy Trull and Robbie Burgess finished tied for third place, carding rounds of 88. Trull’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-four third hole as Burgess made birdie on the par-four seventh hole.  

    Zach Hutchinson rounded out the top five in the division with a round of 90.  

    Senior Division 4 – Frank Felsburg made it a perfect two-for-two on the weekend as his round of 82 was also enough to claim the top spot in Senior Division 4. Felsburg’s steady day included 12 pars as he cleared the field by five shots.  

    Calvin Carter finished second, posting an 87. Carter found his groove on holes five through nine, making four pars in the five-hole stretch. Billy Trull finished third with a round of 88. The Anderson, SC native made the lone birdie of the division, taking advantage of the par-four third hole.  

    Robert Gibson and Danny Sullivan rounded out the top five in the division in fourth and fifth place with rounds of 93 and 98, respectively. 

    Division 5 – Vern Verna recorded five pars on the day, proving to be the difference in his four-stroke victory Saturday as the Greenville, SC native posted a round of 98 to win Division 5. Verna made three pars on the front nine, playing his final three holes on the front in two over par.  

    Billy Gilliand and Bill Turner finished second with rounds of 102. Gilliand and Turner each made three pars on the front to shoot 46 and 49, respectively. Anna Cyphers-Smith finished fourth with a round of 103, followed by Jimmy Gillespie and Eric Barnes, who tied for fifth place with rounds of 104.  

    Senior Division 5 – Vern Verna made it a clean sweep of the weekend, firing a round of 98 to also win Senior Division 5. Verna cleared the field by four strokes, making five pars during his round.  

    Bill Turner finished second with a round of 102, followed by Anna Cyphers-Smith with a round of 103 in third place. Cyphers-Smith finished with two pars, including one on the par-four seventh hole. Jimmy Gillespie rounded out the top five in the division with a round of 104.
