2026 FSW Calusa Country Club

It was a very warm and humid Florida Saturday in early summer at Calusa Country Club in Lakewood Ranch, FL!  40 players decided to challenge the heat and the course!  Highlights of the day included: 

• Division 1: This one started out to be very competitive, with 4 players, Chase Bertrand, Matt Ross, Don Romeo, and Gage Bassiletti all firing a +1 37 on the front nine.  On the back nine, Ross would fire another +1, and Bertrand a +4, but it was no enough to keep up with Basiletti who would go on a tear on the back firing a -3 33 for a -2 70 and the win.   

• Division 2: Chris Scott jumped out to a 4-shot lead after the front nine with a +2 38, over Danny Magruder and newcomer, Andreas Boettcher.  On the back nine, Christian Hess would fire a +2 of his own to move up the leaderboard, but it was not enough to catch Magruder who improved to an even par 36 on the back and a 3-shot victory.   

• Division 3: This division had 3 friends coming together and starting off the front nine with two 39s and a 40 by Brian Kin, Don Cabarle, and Daniel Montgomery.  Dylan Rich was just 4-shots back, though.  On the back nine, Rich would fire a +2 38 to pick up 2-shots, but it was not enough to catch King, and Cabarle who both finished with 79s.  In the playoff, King and Cabarle both parred the first hole, and when Cabarle bogied the second hole, King found his opening and parred the second for the win!   

• Division 4: It was a tight one in this division the whole way, with Manny Collins taking a 1-shot lead on the front over Brent Conlon, Dan Wojcik, and Bill Connington.  On the back nine, David Davis would come alive and fire an impressive 40 to leap overall the other players in the field except Collins, who carded twin 43s to take a two-shot victory over Davis.   

• Division 5: Mike Bushee fired a 42 on the front nine and jumped out to an early two-shot lead over Greg Gastfield.  On the back nine, the two would battle back and forth for the lead, but in the end, Bushee would hold on for a two-shot win over Gastfield, who finished second.     

• Mid-Am Net: Brian King jumped out to an early one-shot lead on the front, firing a -3 (33).  Just one-shot back were Don Cabarle and Jeromy Sigler, and 4 back was Gage Basiletti.  On the back, Basiletti would fire an impressive 33 of his own catching Cabarle, but they were both two shots behind King who shot -1 on the back to finish -4.   

• Senior Net: Bushee would again come out of the gates fast with a -3 (33) on the front, and a one-shot lead over Greg Gastfield and Jackie Rush, and 2 over Manny Collins.  David Davis would come storming up the leaderboard with a -3 (33) on the back.  Bushee, Gastfield, and Collins all fired -1 (35) on the back and Bushee held on for a one-shot victory over Gastfield.   

A huge thank you goes out to Dylan Wright  and the entire staff at Calusa Country Club for helping to make sure everyone stayed hydrated on the course and getting us a cool spot in the shade to do awards!
