Results and Recap for November 22, 2025

Tour Stop #2!  It was a wet week with rain in the area and it was possible we would get a rain out, however it ended up being a great day and the course was in great shape considering the moisture.  Greens were rolling, and we played ball in hand for the round.  It was an eventful start of the day and Freeway 5 was shut down and blocked access for those coming from the OC or LA.  Many had to navigate the Ortega Highway and traffic backed up on the 15 south as well as a result.  8-12 golfers were stuck in traffic, but we were able to get some other players out early and only 1 player was unable to get to the course in order to play.  I appreciate the flexibility and sportsmanship of all who helped make it work.

    Let’s get to the action…

Division 1:  Pala Mesa course proved to be a true test of golfers’ skills, with its tight course layout with Out of Bounds on almost every hole demanding precision and strategic thinking.  Leonardo Giron (Chula Vista, CA) our season opener champion was attempting to go back-to-back!  Juan Martinez (Perris, CA), Greg Delgado (Corona, CA) and Riley Kline (San Dimas, CA) were all battling to take the title.  Leonardo was off to his typical strong start with 3 birdies and a -3 front nine, put him in front. Greg Delgado was trying to apply some pressure with a front nine birdie and a 39.  Today belonged to Leonardo as no one was able to make much of a charge on the back nine, It was Leonardo himself who made it seem close as he finished bogey, bogey for a round of 73 and the championship.  Greg took second with a 77, and Riley was third.

Division 2:  We had a large field in division 2 with so many new members and guests at this event!  New member Vu Le ( Garden Grove, CA) was out to a great start in his first tournament with us shooting an even par 36 with 2 birdies.  Mark Iriarte (Costa Mesa, CA) who won in a playoff in our season opener took a double bogey on 3 but then went back to back birdies to shoot 40 on the front.  Cameron Rubel (Alta Loma, CA) was in contention with a front nine 41. Soichiro Masuda (Tokyo, Japan) was playing as a guest today, took a triple bogey on #1 but rallied to shoot 38 on the front.  Mark was able to post first and was in the clubhouse with an 81 and waiting to see if it would hold up.  Vu Le with his great front nine hit a wall it appeared as he couldn’t keep it going and was taking double bogeys on the back to end up with an 87 and fifth place.  So it would be left to Cameron or Soichiro to try and beat Mark.  Cameron finished with an 85 and third and Soichiro made bogey on the 18th to put himself into a tie and another playoff for Mark. On the first playoff hole Mark took the championship, to go back-to-back just like Leonardo in D1.

Division 3: As the day wore on, the competition intensified. Players vied for the top spots in several divisions, including division 3 which was our largest field with 22 golfers.  Dane Davidson (Oceanside, CA) Blake Moorman, (Fallbrook, CA) and Jayson Huett (Los Alamitos, CA) were all battling for the win along with tour veteran Scott Christensen (San Diego, CA) Dane was out strong with a 39 on the front but Scott and Blake were just 1 back with 40’s.  Jayson struggled with a triple bogey on 2, to shoot 43 on the front.  First to post in the clubhouse and the first D3 group of the day was Scott with his 84 and Blake ended up holding steady to shoot an 82 and the leader.  It seemed like with 7 holes to go and Jayson already at plus 9, that this was Blakes tournament to be had, however Jayson got hot and just kept making pars, until he took bogey on 17 making him now tied with Blake with one hole left.  He was able to secure a par and another playoff in division 3!  In the playoff Blake had a tough tee shot and Jayson capitalized to take the championship with only 1 bogey on his last 8 holes to shoot 82.  Great job guys, Scott and Dane ended tied for third.  Jayson took home $315 for first place!

Division 4:Brad Forsyth (Alta Loma, CA) Kurt Odegard (Yorba Linda, CA) and Victor Lopez (Rialto, CA) were the front runners on this day.  Victor was first group out and his round of 89 looked like a good score to post on this difficult track. Brad and Kurt were paired in the same group and were both holding the lead and contending.  Suddenly Kurt made a birdie on #9 and he caught fire with birdies also on 16 and 17 and he closed with a great D4 round of 84 and the champion!  Brad ended up with a 91 to secure third alone and Victors score held up for second place.

Division 5: After some tough rounds in the Tucson Arizona Major Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) decided to relegate back to division 5 and was in the field at Pala Mesa.  Last season’s participants Jeremy Wuertz (Vista, CA) and Osman Atiq (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) were ready to give him a challenge. Eddy however started out strong and shot a 44 on the front nine to take a strong lead.  Jeremy kept battling but this was Eddys day even though he didn’t play as well on the back, he still carded a 94 and a 12 shot victory over Jeremy who took second.  It was great to see Greg Miller (Menifee,

CA) back playing, as he almost didn’t make it earlier this year with complications in his lungs, way to go Greg!!

    Senior Net Contest

(Eddy Moore, Menifee, CA) Tim Rohrer (San Diego, CA) Greg Delgado (Corona, CA) and Kurt Odegard ( Yorba Linda, CA) were the top four in the Senior net battle.  Kurt with his great round in division 4 ended up with a net score of -3 and with winner also in Senior Net. Eddy and Greg tied for second with plus 1 73’s.

    Mid Am Net Contest

Formerly known as the Open Net and now called the Mid Am net.  Holt Walti (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) Blake Moorman (Fallbrook, CA) and Victor Lopez (Rialto, CA) all collected money in the Mid Am net finishing in the top 3.  Blake and Victor ended up tied at -1 71’s but Victor had the better back nine score of 36 and Blake 37 giving the trophy to Victor, but they will split the prize money and the points.
