Tournament Champions
The Kentucky Amateur Players Tour returned to Winchester Country Club on Saturday, October 24, 2026 in Winchester, KY, for one of the best Kentucky amateur golf tournaments on the fall calendar. A field of 46 players competed across five divisions, with two net games running alongside them, and by the end of the afternoon three of those five divisions had required extra holes to settle.
Winchester Country Club was in great condition from the first tee to the last, and the weather was perfect from start to finish, which meant the only defense of par came from the golf course itself. The par-4 17th did most of that work, surrendering a single birdie all day and playing more than a shot and a half over par. At the other end, the par-5 2nd was the day’s most generous hole, giving up two eagles and six birdies.
In Division 1, Andrew Buse of Louisville, KY posted the low round of the day and was never headed, signing for a 9-under 66 and a five-shot win. Buse did his damage early and in a hurry: he eagled the par-5 2nd, eagled the par-5 3rd, then birdied the 4th for a three-hole stretch in 5 under, and turned in 5-under 32. He came home in 1-under 34 with birdies at the 15th and the par-5 18th, and finished the day with 12 pars and a single bogey on the card. Levi Keith of Elizabethtown, KY took runner-up honors at 4-under 71, closing to within two after twelve holes before Buse pulled away again over the closing stretch. Keith went out in 1-under 36 and home in even-par 35 with five birdies on the round, including one at the last. J.R. Maxam of Winchester, KY was third at 1-under 74, turning in even-par 37 and coming home in 2-over 37 with birdies at the par-5 2nd, the par-4 5th and the par-4 14th.
Division 2 needed more than 18 holes. Tyler Whittaker of Frankfort, KY and Joseph Hayden of Lexington, KY both finished at even-par 75, and Whittaker won the playoff for the title. Hayden had led the division from the opening holes and was three clear of Whittaker through twelve, but Whittaker — 1-over 38 out, 2-over 37 back, with birdies at the 4th, 8th and 9th — had cut it to one by the 15th and drew level by the close. Hayden made five birdies of his own, at the par-5 2nd, the 4th, the 7th, the par-5 12th and the par-5 18th. Patrick Younts of Winchester, KY and Scott Middleton of Knoxville, TN, visiting from the East Tennessee chapter, shared third at 7-over 82. Younts eagled the par-5 3rd and added a birdie at the par-3 13th.
Division 3 went to extra holes as well. Greg Goff of Crab Orchard, KY and Kasey Dickenson of Shelbyville, KY both came in at 3-over 78, and Goff claimed the division in the playoff. Goff led from the front, one clear of Dickenson after six and three in front through twelve and fifteen, and built his number on 13 pars and a birdie at the par-5 12th, going out in 1-over 38 and home in 5-over 40. Dickenson matched him with a bogey-free-of-worse card of 12 pars, 3-over 40 out and 3-over 38 back. Bernie Stevens of Winchester, KY and Dan Teeter of Elizabethtown, KY tied for 3rd to round out the money positions.
The third playoff of the day came in Division 4, where Van Rome of Canal Winchester, OH, in from the Columbus chapter, and Jason Walling of Indianapolis, IN, representing the Indianapolis chapter, both signed for 11-over 86. Rome, who went out in 4-over 41 with seven pars on the card, held a three-shot edge on Walling through twelve holes; Walling trimmed it to one by the 15th and squared it by the 18th before Rome took the playoff for the win. Six players finished within five shots of the number. Gregg Centers of Nicholasville, KY and Kenneth Kidd of Shelbyville, KY tied for 3rd at 14-over 89, Centers birdieing the par-5 2nd and the 11th, Kidd picking up shots at the 7th and the 9th.
John Giblin of Louisville, KY broke through for his first career victory in Division 5, and he did it by holding off the field from the opening holes. Giblin was in front after six, twelve and fifteen and never surrendered the lead, going out in 6-over 43 with a birdie at the par-4 7th and coming home in 11-over 46 for a 14-over 89 and a two-shot win. Lisa Moore of Huntington, WV was runner-up at 16-over 91, and she stayed within a shot of Giblin through the first six holes before the gap stretched; Moore birdied the par-5 2nd and the par-4 15th. Don Varble of Salvisa, KY was third at 19-over 94 with a birdie at the 7th.
Whittaker completed the double-dip in Mid-Am Net, winning that title with a net 4-under 71 by four strokes. Walling was second at net even-par 75, and Ryan Fish of Morgantown, IN, another Indianapolis chapter visitor, took third at net 4-over 79.
Senior Net came down to a tie at the top, with Goff and Dickenson both posting net 6-under 69 to share the points and split the purse. It was the same two players who had gone to a playoff in Division 3, and the same pattern on the net side: Goff ahead by one after six, by three after twelve, with Dickenson level by the finish. Goff’s win in Division 3 made it a two-title day for the Crab Orchard player. Giblin added a third-place finish at net 4-under 71 to go with his Division 5 trophy.
Eagles were in good supply beyond Division 1, too: Cameron Buse made three at the par-5 2nd, and Don Hubbard closed with a three at the par-5 18th.
Next up in the Kentucky chapter — a quick turnaround to NCR Country Club’s South Course on Monday, October 26th for the Elevated Event shared with the Cincinnati and Columbus chapters. After that, the chapter heads to Frankfort Country Club on Sunday, November 8th. Space is limited and registration closes November 4th.
