Tournament Champions
The Oklahoma City Amateur Players Tour returned to Lake Hefner Golf Club – North Course on Saturday, October 31, 2026 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for a premier amateur golf tournament. A field of 48 players competed across five divisions, plus Mid-Am Net and Senior Net games, in the Lakeview Fall Classic, the chapter’s latest stop on a fall schedule of Oklahoma City amateur golf tournaments. Players are flighted into divisions based on their APT Tournament Index.
The North Course at Lake Hefner, which opened in 1951 and was renovated in 1993, played to a par of 72 and was in great shape from tee to green. A late-season aerification left a little sand on the putting surfaces, though it had little impact on the roll. The par-4 12th was the hole that gave up nothing all day: it surrendered not a single birdie in 48 rounds and played a shot and a quarter over par. The par-5 11th was the opposite proposition, yielding 16 birdies and playing dead even to par. Pace of play was excellent, with the average round completed in four hours and 28 minutes.
Overcast skies and a drizzling rain hung over the property from the opening tee shots to the last, and none of it seemed to bother anyone — scoring was very good in every division.
Division 1 belonged to John Ryan Bonaobra, Tulsa’s 2026 Division 1 Player of the Year, who claimed his first title of the new season after winning four times a year ago. The Broken Arrow, Oklahoma player signed for a bogey-free 5-under 67, the low round of the day, turning in 2-under 34 and coming home in 3-under 33 with birdies at the par-5 7th, the par-3 8th, the par-5 11th, the par-4 13th and the par-5 18th. Wouter Myburgh of Edmond had him by one through six holes, and Conner Compton of Oklahoma City sat a single stroke back at the same point, but Bonaobra held the outright lead from the turn and stretched it to two by the 15th. Compton and Myburgh shared runner-up honors at 3-under 69, each with an eagle on the card — Compton holed out for three at the par-5 7th, and Myburgh matched it with a three at the par-5 18th, where Garye Myers had made one of his own. Three players finished within two shots of the lead in the division.
Division 2 went to Keith Tilghman of Edmond, who collected his second win in as many starts in the 2027 season. Tilghman opened in 1-over 37 and then went to work on the inward half, making birdies at the par-4 10th, the par-5 11th and the par-4 16th for a 2-under 34 and a 1-under 71, good for a three-shot victory. Jake Little of Stillwater was two strokes clear of the eventual winner after six holes and had the better of the early exchanges before Tilghman turned it around, Little posting a 2-over 74 for second. John Behrend of Yukon took third at 3-over 75, playing his back nine in even-par 36 with birdies at the par-5 11th and the par-5 18th.
In Division 3, Ryan Miller of Edmond picked up his second APT win as he begins his second season on tour, and he had to chase it down. Michael King of Bixby led him by four through six holes and was still three ahead at the turn, but Miller kept closing — two back at the 15th and then in front at the post, with an 8-over 80 against King’s 9-over 81 for a one-stroke victory. Miller played his inward nine in 2-over 38 and birdied the par-4 16th. King birdied the par-5 11th and the par-5 18th. Randy Miller, also of Edmond, was third at 10-over 82, and seven players finished within seven shots of the lead in the division’s tightly bunched field.
Division 4 needed extra holes, and Justin Gates of Oklahoma City got the job done, winning a one-hole playoff with a bogey for his second victory of the young season and his fourth as an APT member. Gates and Van Rome, the Columbus chapter member from Canal Winchester, Ohio, finished regulation locked together at 10-over 82. Gates led by three after six holes, Rome closed to within one by the 12th and stayed there through the 15th, and neither could separate from the other over the closing stretch. Steve Pickens, in from the Denver chapter and a resident of Calhan, Colorado, finished third at 13-over 85 after turning the round around with a 3-over 39 on the back nine that included birdies at the par-5 4th and the par-5 18th.
The biggest individual leap of the day came in Division 5, where Brandon Jansson of Windsor, Colorado, playing out of the Denver chapter, posted the best round of his life. Jansson’s 4-over 76 beat his previous APT best of 86 by ten shots. He went out in 3-over 39 and came home in 1-over 37, making five birdies on the day — at the par-4 5th, the par-4 9th, the par-5 11th, the par-4 16th and the par-5 18th — and playing his last three holes in 2-under to finish the job. The win came by twelve strokes. David Carnes of Oklahoma City, Robert Tyndall of Oklahoma City and Weydan Flax of Tulsa shared second place.
Mid-Am Net came down to a single stroke, and John Behrend had it, posting a net 3-under 69 to edge Ryan Miller, who added a net 2-under 70 to his Division 3 title to complete the double-dip. Behrend led from the front, holding the advantage at every checkpoint. Kevin Haaksma of Edmond was third at net 1-over 73.
Senior Net was the day’s most comfortable win, and it completed a perfect afternoon for Keith Tilghman, who took the division at net 8-under 64 to go with his Division 2 trophy. Michael King was actually a stroke to the good after six holes before Tilghman pulled away, King settling for second at net 4-under 68 and a second runner-up finish on the day. Robert Tyndall and Steve Pickens tied for third at net 2-under 70, with Tyndall’s result pairing with his share of second in Division 5.
The closest-to-the-pin prizes were sponsored by T & T Realty Group. Nate Phillips won the contest on the par-3 2nd, stopping his tee shot 12 feet 1 inch from the cup, and Rob Richard lasered one to 2 feet 9 inches on the par-3 14th. Each player collected $100 with the help of T & T Realty Group, and the chapter’s thanks go to them for backing both pins.
Points from the Lakeview Fall Classic go into the season-long Rhino Roofing Player of the Year race, where Tilghman’s second win in two starts, Gates’s second of the season and Bonaobra’s first of 2027 all registered.
Next up in the Oklahoma City chapter — a trip to Lincoln Park Golf Course – West on Saturday, November 7th. Space is limited and registration closes November 3rd.
