Davis Dominates Amid Scorching Heat at Langdon Farms
On Saturday, August 9, the Portland Amateur Players Tour hit Langdon Farms Golf Course in Aurora, Oregon, where players battled through a heatwave with temperatures approaching 100 degrees. Daniel Davis seemed to win in every way possible, capturing both the Division 4 and Senior Net titles, as well as two closest-to-the-pins, bringing his total winnings on the day to $455.
In Division 2, Benjamin Ciobanu started and ended his round with birdies en route to an impressive 77 and the division championship.
Tristan Katz emerged victorious in Division 3, shooting an 80 highlighted by nine pars and finishing six shots ahead of his nearest competitor.
Division 4 was a nail-biter. It took Daniel Davis playing the final six holes at one under par to edge out Harsha Yellamareddygari. Although Yellamareddygari birdied the 18th hole, it wasn’t enough to overcome Davis’s momentum, which ignited following a birdie on the par-3 13th hole. The pair finished with scores of 81 and 83, respectively.
Mauricio Sanchez got off to a hot start in Division 5, finishing the front nine at five over par, including a birdie on the 2nd hole. He shot an 87 overall and edged out Jesus Jared Soria by just two shots.
On the Net side, Tristan Katz won the Open Net Division and an additional $50, finishing at one over par. In the Senior Net Division, Davis and Yellamareddygari battled again, with Davis’s -3 besting Yellamareddygari’s -2. Both earned sizable payouts, with first place taking home $150 and second place receiving $75.
