The Amateur Players Tour – Atlanta was at Reunion Country Club on June 5th, 2022 and was treated to a wonderful day of golf. Thirty-nine players played across five division for a piece of the $2000 in prizes.
Division 1 had fireworks all round long by a multitude of players. There was a player that had six birdies, a player that had only one bogey on his round, and another player with three eagles in one round. In the end, there where two players that tied at -1 (71) and went to a playoff. Derek Foulke and Derek Nicholson returned to the first tee for a sudden death playoff. Both players parred the first two playoff holes and then a five-footer missed by Derek Foulke gave Derek Nicholson the victory on the third playoff hole. Well played by these two players.
Division 2 was an up and down battle all day between Troy Slate and James Davis. Ultimately, Troy Slate came out victorious by one shot firing an 81. Troy played solid for most of the day with two birdies but struggles on the ninth and tenth hole put Troy one stroke behind. A strong finish helped secure the win. Congrats on your victory Troy.
Division 3 also wanted to play extra holes and in took a score of 84 to get in the playoff. Geoffrey Robbins and Steven Smith returned to the first tee to decide the winner. Both players hit great tee balls and hit perfect lay ups to 85 yards. Both players struggled from there and Geoffrey Robbins ended up winning the playoff on the first hole. Great playing by these two and both said that this was an experience they will not forget.
Division 4 winner had a very solid day with two birdies but was able to hold it together after having a few high numbers. Alden Jackson took home the victory and was award the trophy and a $210 Visa Gift Card. Congrats on your career round.
Division 5 was won by Eddie Cox who finished the day shooting an 84 to take the win over Michael Toney. This is Eddie’s first victory on the APT tour, and he was awarded the trophy and a $230 Visa Gift Card.
We want to also congratulate Colin Edward on his hole-in-one recorded on the 16th hole. Colin hit an 8 iron from 174 yards, and it took one hop and rolled straight into the hole. This was Colin’s third eagle of the day and was also his first career hole-in-one. Congrats to you Colin.
Next up on the Atlanta schedule is the Summer 2-Day at Callaway Gardens set for June 25-26. The field is starting to fill up and with a full field we will have over $3000 in prizes and trophies to hand out.
