2023 Horse Creek Golf Tournament Results

The Amateur Players Tour-Birmingham hosted 55 players from four different chapters at Horse Creek Golf Course in Dora, AL. Players competed in five different divisions for over $3000 in total prizes. 

Tommy Jean used home course knowledge to cruise to a victory in Division 1. Tommy posted a score of 69 (-3) to take the win. Derek Nicholson and Jay Hayes tied for 2nd with each posting 76. Tommy was awarded the trophy and $210 in prizes.  

Division 2 looked like a runaway for most of the day until late round struggles for the leader made it close at the end. Heath Quinn came out with a hot putter to gain a huge lead after the first nine. Andree Tucker turned it on for the back nine and finished the final nine at even par with a double bogey on the last hole. The final hole struggle for Andree sealed the victory for Heath. Heath posted 75 for the victory and was awarded the trophy and $230 in total prizes. 

Division 3 followed the same theme with good scoring needed to take the win. Karl Jung posted a 75 to take a four-shot victory over David McBride. Karl started the day off nine straight pars on the first nine. Karl was awarded the victory and $250 in total prizes. Although David McBride finished 2nd in Division 3, he was victorious in the Senior Net event and was awarded the trophy. David’s earnings were a combined $240 between the two contests. 

Division 4 started out with a bang. The overall winner of the event was Colton Jones, who posted a score of 81. Colton used a hole out eagle on the very first hole to get his day started in the right direction. Colton was able to stay steady after that to take the victory. Colton was awarded the trophy and $210 in total prizes. 

Division 5 was won by Upstate member Mason Hubber. Mason posted a score of 88 to take a five-stroke victory over Todd Gober. Mason made a total of seven pars on the day to counter a couple of triple bogies. Mason was awarded the trophy and $250 in total prizes. 

Next up for the Birmingham chapter is a trip to one of the players favorite stops on tour. Timberline Golf Club will host us on June 4th, 2023. Registration is open and spots will sure fill up fast. There is still plenty of time to join and compete for 2023 Player of the Year honors.
