Ninety-five players visited the Towhee Club in Spring Hill this past Saturday to compete for prizes totaling over $5,500. A brief rain and lightning delay held up players for about 45 minutes. We were again, fortunate for all players to complete their rounds and crown champions in all five divisions, as well as Senior Net.
In Division 1, John Cacchio captures his second victory on tour with his two-under round of 68. Cacchio had five birdies on the day. In 2nd place, only one stroke behind, was Drew Taylor from Franklin. He also had 5 birdies.
In Division 2, Malcolm Miles from Clarksville scores a +1 round of 71 to win by two strokes over Jody Barrett from Dickson, who shot +3 73.
In a tie for 3rd place were Marcus Wirth from Scottsdale, AZ, guest Peyton Saxton from Nashville and John Bradshaw from Crossville.
In Division 3, Drew Blalock from Cookeville made-the-turn two strokes back, posts 38 on the inward 9 to score the one-stroke victory over Joseph Berry from Murfreesboro. Blalock posted +8 78 and Berry, +9 79.
In a tie for 3rd place were Alex Richardson from Dickson and Parker McWilliams from Nashville. Both players finished two-strokes back with +10 80.
In Division 4, Will Houston from Brentwood and Mike Penn from Arab, AL needed a playoff to decide the winner as both players finish their round at +13 83. Only one hole was needed to decide the winner. Both players struggled, but Houston prevailed, scoring a double-bogey 6 on the par 4 1st. This is Houston’s second win on the season.
In a tie for 3rd place were Matthew Lacheta from Thompson’s Station and Larry Sumner from McEwen. Both players were poised to make the playoff on the par 4 18th, but finish at +14 86.
In Division 5, Madison Murphy from Charlotte and Basil Hall from Primm Springs finished their rounds at +14 84 to finish in a tie for 1st. Hall was not able to participate in the on-course playoff, so the win goes to Murphy.
Paul Clark from Nashville was close to the lead all round and finishes with +16 86 to take home 3rd place.
In Senior Net, Dave Veltheim from Mt. Juliet squeezes out a one-stroke victory with net even par 70. Veltheim made net eagle on the par 4 18th to leapfrog 2nd place finisher, James Newkirk from Brentwood, who finished with net one-over 71.
Finishing in a three-way tie for 3rd place were Russ Donaldson from Hampton Cove, AL, Matt Love from Greenbrier and Lowe Prescott from Dickson. All three finished with net +5 75.
